Today we remember one of the darkest days in our history. A day that nobody has truly gotten over. We remember the life of Edna Cintron, believed to be the woman who found herself in the middle of all the chaos, with her battle for survival shown across many videos and photos. My heart goes out to her family and loved ones. May the thousands who perished that day forever rest in peace. You are never forgotten.
A huge thank you to all who risked their lives capturing footage and taking photos as events unfolded. Thank you to all who took their time and dedicated themselves to researching those photos and videos. Your work gives us a better understanding of certain things.

The Museum dedicated to all the lives lost on the 11th of September 2001 has a section where all the faces of those who passed in the towers are all over the walls. Photographs are not allowed in that section. On a blown up large canvas is the picture of the North Tower after being hit, with "the waving woman" holding on, captured by Roberto Rabanne. The 9/11 Museum and all of the people who came together to create this memorial and everything in the Museum acknowledge that the woman seen in the hole in the North Tower was later "identified as Edna Cintron." If you go, you'll see this for yourself as it's written right beside that photo. I also enourage anyone who visits that exhibit to use the touchscreen systems to search for Ednas name. You'll see more than 30 pictures of Edna and her loved ones you won't ever see anywhere else. Memories captured and donated to the museum by William Cintron. The hard work to identify many is still ongoing. If you end up visiting and seeing what I've mentioned, let me know in the comments. Rest In Peace Edna Cintron. NEVER forgotten.

My mother was an accountant and worked for Carr Futures on the 92nd floor of the Trade Center. Two weeks before the attacks, she switched her schedule with a co-worker due to said co-worker living in New Jersey and thought this would work out better in her favor. Prior to the switch, my mother used to leave Staten Island at 0500 to catch the ferry and commute to the Trade Center for 0715. That morning, she decided to go in early and was on her way to work when the attacks happened. Her co-worker that she swapped schedules with, along with numerous traders and fellow co-workers in her department passed away. I was told that a few who were trapped in an elevator called my mother so she can tell their loved ones goodbye for them. My mother survived both the 93 bombing, 9/11 and has been to almost two dozen wakes. This tragedy took a toll on her the first couple of years, due to the fact that people she worked with for almost 20 years are dead. Thankfully, she has gotten better over the period of time. My sister and I knew her co-workers since we were little children. I think about them from time to time. May they all rest in Heaven.........

I know the grief and pain is unimaginable for the victims and the families, but the coworkers who weren't there at that time, late for work, or taking the day off will carry so much of weight of 9/11 for the rest of their lives. People often forget those people and their families suffer on a scale that the average person cannot fathom. My heart goes out to your mom and your family.

This poor woman must have had the most horrific experience imaginable. Surviving the initial carnage to spend the final hour of her life a helpless, close-up observer of human suffering - she would have heard the voices and cries of the dying in the wreckage, seen people jumping, the fireball from the second impact, and the collapse of the south tower all at close proximity. This was a lovely, informative piece. My father, Steven P. Morello, was also a Marsh & McLennan employee who was killed on September 11th. I researched impact zones, studied videos and maps, and made hundreds of phone calls, trying to figure out where my dad would've been, and if he went quickly. Strangely, your video has the best footage I've seen of the impact zone, and the fact that there were actually people who survived the initial impact. It is an uncomfortable truth. One I greatly feared and hoped didn't happen. I had hoped my dad was killed instantly. And as you've shown, that may not have happened. But this is an important piece of history. And it shouldn't be watered down just to ease our pain. Thank you for making this.

I mean for a moment think like her!! You survived the initial crash. Then while waiting for your rescue, you hear a loud boom in the background but you are in the opposite side of the building!! You see huge ball of fire, papers flying, debris are falling. But you have no clue that the second building was hit. You wait for an hour to witness another tragedy, you could hear the loud boom and after few moments you see a cloud of dust circling the building. A lot of things must have going through her mind maybe, did WTC fall? Why did it fall? Was it a deliberate attack? Was it not an accident? She must have thought, that this is the end of the world!! It's so scary!! She must be really brave to hang on to her dear life after everything she saw and experienced that day!! I am saying this because she was last seen in North Tower few moments before the tower fell. Rest well dear Edna!!❤ PS sorry for grammatical mistakes if any!!

Edna was so strong and brave to be able to hold on for the entire event. At times you could see her struggling to stand, probably due to the injuries she would have had, combined with exhaustion. And imagine how scary and sickening it would feel to be standing that high in the air, any wrong movement could potentially send you to your death, and you can see helicopters that aren't able to save you no matter how much you scream. Even if Edna somehow found a way to get out of that area of the building, there wouldn't have been a stairwell or anything so this poor woman was basically doomed from the start. She died shortly before her 47th birthday as well.

Memes didn't exist. People only used the internet back then very seldomly. It wasn't at all what it is today. Atleast she is remembered and that is what immortalizes us. Her story, she is remember for who she was. A person who fought the hardest day anyone could imagine. And you can't begin to imagine what it must have been like to live an hour and fourty two minutes like that. To watch the South tower collapse next to you for what felt like in reaching distance.

I don't think the fear was as much as is often quoted. We all know what happened today, but no one there on the ground, on the airplanes or in the towers knew what was about to happen. I don't think Edna thought the towers were about to collapse, and possibly might not have been aware the 2nd tower hit, had collapsed. Yeah, she might have seen all the debris and so on flying around, but would she have equated that to what we know happened? Maybe wasn't even aware the 2nd tower had been hit in the same way. Maybe wan't even aware the first tower hade been hit by an airplane. And probably expected to be rescued.

It was brief but I existed. I just rollerbladed around all summer before this happened listening to my Aaliyah cassette in my dad’s portable player. The player was yellow and my second hand rollerblades were fuchsia. No helmet just getting scraped up and drinking from the hose. After 9/11 I swear everyone thought about death more. Parents were watching closer after it. Maybe that was my experience because I’m from a port city on the east coast and everyone feared those would be the targeted areas at the time.

I would have never thought that this happened 22 almost 23 years ago. I remember vividly sitting in my third grade class in North Carolina. And they called us all to the library and had us watching. And I remember just everyone crying unsure of what they were seeing and knowing some had family there is still hurts. Fast forward to today, i am living in New York, learning more and experiencing in real time the effects of the tragedies on that day. I thank you for honoring her and everyone who lost their lives and send love to families that lost their loved ones. I cant imagine the thoughts as you wait and wait praying and praying to only face or find out the unimaginable. Breaks my heart that she was never found.

As a native New Yorker, this literally made me cry. My titi was in BOTH attacks, the second attack, she was on the lower levels. Went home thankfully over the bridge with one shoe, covered in cuts, debris, and ash. A woman helped her and gave her a shoe to continue walking and they walked together, thankfully alive, and mostly unharmed, my uncle and cousin out in the city not too far from it all, my mom, dad and aunt… it pains me to know so many lost their lives and lost their loved ones without any real closure. To be that kid again, at home watching the smoke from brooklyn and the ashes falling from the sky, confused about what it was… to only go home and cry in fear if my mom was coming back. This story is so sad…. It will never, not hit hard. Rest in peace Edna… I’m sure to this day William still misses you.

I was a freshman in HS when this happened. Our art teacher wheeled in a TV and we all watched. The people jumping was the hardest part for me. All of sudden, the world was different, and I wasn't a kid anymore while processing this evil. Sounds cliche, but the only way I can describe watching this live. Our teacher was also punished for allowing us to watch it. Found that out years later when I served him a round at a bar I worked for.

When the bell rang, nobody moved from their seats either, but a lot of our parents showed up and check us out. It was both the Clay and art teacher who decided to combine their classes and roll the TV in. I still have a lot of respect for them. I bumped into my art teacher years after and bought him a round. And listened to how they were written up for that day or reprimanded.

I was the exact same age. I remember that I was late to school and saw the 2nd plane hit live on TV. I rush into class, interrupted the teacher and said, "Turn on the TV. The WTC has just been hit by 2 planes. We're under attack." It was surreal. That entire day. We mostly watched the news in each class. They say that almost every American that day either knew someone who died that day or knew someone who knew a victim of that day. I also remember Bush's statement he made while he was addressing the nation that evening. He said, "We will hunt you down like an animal", referring to the terrorist behind this. It's exactly how we all felt. So angry and protective over our country. People just won't ever truly get it if they didn't experience that day. The world COMPLETELY changed.

It’s even harder to understand that Edna probably had the most favorable situation for those trapped in the North Tower. While her situation was nothing short of a nightmare, she at least had the best position to be in. Since she was standing in the hole, away from most of the fire, she was likely spared from an overwhelming amount of heat, as cool air blew into the impact hole. It makes me so angry that her and thousands of others never made it out, their last moments wondering why help never came. Rest in peace.

Completely agree that it is wild to me that the severity of this day and what it literally was (tangibly and intangibly) to be an American that day (and blessed by chance to be one not affected by death or direct pain). I mean..... it was truly the only time I really felt the depth of what it meant to have "fellow Americans" and to be in unity with them. It was as if there was NOTHING to say but this topic, all day- every day and everyone was OK with it. We were all together in grief and disbelief. So many beautiful babies and precious children lost and the loss of adult human life is much greater in number but not in pain. I hope to fucking god the many truths and messages of this day ring in the hearts of us forever. And also need to mention how deeply moving and comforting to know that the bulk of global society stood in support of unity in spirit and in deed. Many people the world over made this the best outcome it could be as far as their love and help go. 💞

I have a small personal connection through my boyfriend to one of the passengers on flight AA77. That crashed into Pentagon. His former colleague a Navy Lawyer was traveling to LA to completely overhaul her life and career. She was a great lawyer in the Navy but her passion was gymnastics. She got her position at a university of California in SB and was traveling that morning. There is a video available on RU-vid of her going through the security with her orange kitty. She looks a bit confused with what to do with the kitty if to carry her or put through the X-ray machine. It’s actually funny to watch her doing it but then what will break your heart is to know that right behind her and in front of her are two hijackers getting checked. She boarded that flight with her orange kitty on her lap. My boyfriend gave the eulogy at her memorial in 2001. Her name was Mari-Rae Sopper and she was great.
