no I don't even care for golf. I just like sometimes you know what kind of watch they wear. myself I wear almost a different watch everyday sometimes I change watch has three times a day. I just love watches. then cleaning him rubbing on working on them making them run again. the largest the state by I bought weighed 24 lb of of watches. needless to say they was in several,. but I've been doing it for a while.
oh and as far as my favorite watch. one of my own is a 1917 world war 1 trench watch.in my most favorite is my druin submariner automatic ll 300 meter. it listed for 4200 and 2010 the one I have.and if you want out there knows anything about a certain Elgin watch I have it's a ladies. it only ticks every 5 seconds. I thought that was kind of strange.
no this talk-to-text is not working right. it's not submariner. that was what they say the misprint and no proofreading. it's a really nice watch. it came from the old man in the nursing home that my sister-in-law works at. it runs perfectly in the oldest watch I own I believe. I've never worn or anyting. I can't even find one online exactly like it summer really close.
Given the number of affluent people who golf, and worship it, that Jack Nicklaus Rolex is likely going to eclipse the Daytona. Great video, BTW. Keep them coming.
Very true. Golf is a rich man's game at the end of the day. It will be interesting though as I think Paul Newman as a pop culture figure, in general, probably has more pull, but I think his Day-Date can beat it out. It only takes a few people that want it bad to take these prices to the moon. Thanks for watching!
@@TeddyBaldassarre I have an uncle in the Cleveland area who has played nearly every major course in the world. He traveled for his job and always took his clubs with him. If he had $1MM laying around, that watch would be his. His love of golf is surpassed only by his love of family, and that was a close call.
@@JDCEsq1 Thats because human beings havent created anything better than golf yet. Maybe when we hit the Type 1 civilization marker.. or room temperature green fusion. But even then I doubt it. 🤷🏾♂️😂
Great video, love this kind of content. I was really interested to see that throughout 2019 Phil was also sporting what looked like a 37mm rose gold yacht-master on the oysterflex bracelet on course.
Nice video, you forgot to mention that Tiger was an ambassador for Tag Heuer and they even have a model Tag Heuer Golf Tiger Woods edition. Keep the good work my friend!
Thanks for including that in the comments! Honestly probably was a big contributor to TAG’s growth here in America. They have one of the most developed authorized dealer networks I have seen.
I have the Tiger Woods Golf Edition watch. I don't wear it much because it is a tad small for me but I'm a Tiger fan so I keep it around. Plus it is one of the numbered editions.
im not sure about a wating list but im sure that watch can go deep underwater. I'd love to get my hands on the new muff diver! My collection has been lacking lately and that piece could certainly spice it up.
Hey Teddy, great video as always.. In past few years I have become a watch enthusiastic.. I would love to hear your opinion on Rado, you never mentioned anything about it in your videos. Thanks.
Great content as usual, Teddy. I would be amazed if the Day Date went for more than the Paul Newman. Even knowing the history of Nicklaus' piece, that would be a tall order.
I think the fact that he has been seen wearing it more does help the case. But the fact that Paul Newman was a universal pop culture icon, along with him not being with us anymore at the time of the auction, as well as Daytonas being very hot probably was a perfect storm. We will have to see!
Awesome vid!! Love the topic, but big respect for plugging the Hodinkee vid with Greg Norman - there’s another well known RU-vidr who doesn’t have the cojones to mention anyone else and discourages discussions about other RU-vidrs in his comments section. That’s why you actually sit down with well known people, while the other does videos about celebrities exclusively on a picture basis.
What's amazing about Jack's Rolex is he never took it off. So it was likely on his wrist for most of his major championship victories. For a watch collector and golf enthusiast, that would be huge. I also remember one tournament when Phil hit a wayward tee shot and hit some gentleman in the wrist, shattering his watch. Phil strolled up, checked to make sure he was OK and then proceeded to take his own Rolex of his wrist and give it to the victim. Pretty classy move from Phil.
I love watches, and I love golf. What a video. Love that Jack Nicklaus watch, and a lovely gesture. I did notice that the golfers are an extension of a luxury marketing campaign, now. It would be interesting to see perhaps what the top notch amateurs wear now, or indeed, some of the watches of say those a little out of the limelight, John Daly, Seve, Tony Jacklin, or indeed Lara Davies. I’d like to see what they chose for themselves, rather that what was chosen for them.
I was going to ask you to do a watch videos for golfers. Not the gps watches like garmin or anything. But actual horological pieces that have complications aimed for golfers! Now that I know you like golf.. think thats a possibility? Thanks Teddy!
The OBJ one was apparently a fake RM and this was discussed in a Hodinkee Radio episode; there were many photos of OBJ's watch compared to the real RM on Instagram. And he stopped wearing one just before he was announced as an ambassador for Daniel Wellington. OBJ called the RM 'plastic' and said DW makes better watches.
He admitted the RM56-01 he was wearing against the jets was fake. I didn’t hear anything about the rm 11-03 he looks to be wearing against the titans. Wouldn’t be surprised but more believable considering the 56-01 is a 7 figure dollar watch.
Could you do a video on the Rolex GMT blueberry? Interesting watch, love the aesthetics. Some speculation about whether they are authentic and from rolex. 🤔🤔😀😁
Teddy, as a new golfer and watch enthusiast do you think is a bad idea to play golf with a mechanical watch? I’ve been playing recently with my Omega Seamaster diver and with my Aquaterra
I didn’t get why Rolex started sponsoring Tiger after all the scandals. I thought Rolex is all about reputation and values. Tiger can be one of the best golf players ever but doesn’t seem as as an honorable man.
Rolex is about making money. The marketing they use to present themselves is just that marketing. All of that tradition crap is there to sell the brand to people.
I really enjoyed this video. I had no idea anyone wore Richard Mille or however you spell it. I think they are super expensive and not very attractive I realize these athletes are paid to wear them, I can not imagine playing golf with a DeepSea. Those are hefty watches. Tiger woods has become an icon for the game. I am sure he is offered many endorsements.
Was it the one where they were on a white contemporary set with one female golfer? I believe she was the one that does all the trick shots.. her name escapes me at the moment...
I like Tiger's Tudor watch but Norman's watch collection takes the prize ...... Thank you for showing the horology in the world of Golf ... Note: What is your opinion of the Laco Bremerhaven Navy? I have in my hand a PRIM Orlik 38 .....
I think it's funny ⛳ is the worst sport to wear watches while playing due to vibrations that occurs when the club meets the ball during the swing.. Will the new Titanium Omega be able to handle the vibrations?
The only reason I can think of for Michelson choosing to wear Rolex dress watches while he's playing is that they're lighter and less of a distraction during the swing.
I'm surprised that the NFL allowed him to wear a watch during the game. The league has pretty strict uniform rules, also the watch could injure another player.
I really don't see how golf would challenge the durability of even a cheap Timex. I would know, I have never wrecked even a cheap Walmart watch golfing. Golf endorsements is about status period.
Think Nicklaus watch will sell for way less than the Newman Daytona. Saw Jack on The most boring HODINKEE ep cuz he only has 1 damn watch. He only wears the 24kt Day Date. Great watch but boooooring!!! I wanna see some Nardin minute repeaters, Alange or some thing else special like George Daniels.
Those guys have so much money but no taste - Tiger's Rolex doesn't fit a suit and Richard Mile looks like a cheap toy. Patek's Calatrava or Lange&Sone would be much more welcome.
