I'm still not sure if "get romantic" was supposed to mean sex or not. Bob's euphemism for having sex was "make whoopie." Which of course played a starring role in the greatest gameshow answer of all time, one so incredible that it was thought to be an urban legend for many years.

Bob Eubanks was one of my favorite game show hosts growing up, second only to the great Bob Barker. In addition to the Newlywed Game, Mr. Eubanks also hosted Card Sharks from 1985 to 1989.

Before he was called on to host The Newlywed Game, Bob Eubanks was a concert promoter for a few years. He was actually the one responsible for producing The Beatles' concerts at the Hollywood Bowl when they came to the area.

I do use a lot of scotch tape. I wouldn't call myself a "scotch tape guy" but I do use it a lot. I collect comic books so when you bag and board them you take a piece of scotch tape to close up the bag. I have to do that like once a week.

I would suggest also looking at a similar game from the 70s called "Tattletales" which had celebrity couples answering similar questions, but used headphones and monitors - it's kind of weird.

Maybe someone else said this but the point of this show is to see how the wife and husband see the questions. So if the husband and wife see "get romantic" as snuggling that's what it is. It doesn't matter what the audience thinks it means .

I doubt you guys look at comments on older videos, but you both really like this host and are questioning the contestants who seem clueless. You should watch the original Newlywed Game. It was in the late 60's and when they were referring to sex, the host Bob Eubanks, same guy as this 80's version, would say "Making woopee". Unlike those contestants on Baggage, these contestants aren't prepped people who are screened by a talent agency. These are awkward and just plain old people. That's sort of what the show was based on...people who aren't used at all to being in the spotlight, who haven't ever been on/in anything and whose awkwardness on the show and with each other as a couple were just what the producers of this show want. It's that awkwardness that drives this particular show. Seriously, do watch the 60's version. I think it's better than this version.
