We're finally watching Boys Over Flowers for y'all- another quintessential show in the canon that is Maddie and Kate's friendship, although admittedly WAY better than Vampire Knight

The fact that this mess of a drama was the first kdrama for many international fans is hilarious. The rich kids are cartoonishly evil, the protagonist has the personality of A4 paper, everyone is or extremely rich or bordering homelessness, people lose their memory, suicide and dead is a passing topic. What a mess, i love it

It was his hair!!! Not a wig!! They just styled them so damn stiff back then, much closer to J-style. So glad Korea decided to do their own thing with style after the 2010s. Also Lee Minhos hair was not permed, they curled that every time because his hair couldn't take the perm! And yessss, Jan Di ACTUALLY had a personality. Could it have been better? Of course. But she stood up for herself, valued loyalty and was cute in her own way. This was my first major K-Drama when I was young and I can never get over it. It was dumb back then and is beautifully dumb now - AND WE LOVE IT.

@@jasmine_of_all_things girl you ain't wrongggg... but during that time the girls were putting up with all types of abuse and Jan Di was worth rooting for. She stuck up for her friends and she was goofy at times. That is a personality let the girl live! hahaha

The Kdrama adaptation was not that much better 😭 it was the first one I watched and the male lead literally puts her under surgery to remove her fats and muscles (she’s a swimmer) and this was a throwaway line

i mean i don't think I'm far off from your age range but in our house we adored Meteor Garden, the Taiwanese boys over flowrs lmao. and it aired earlier too early 2000s. the girl protag if i remember right in MG is feistier, social class discrepancy was kinda the highlight.
