Despicable Me is an American media franchise created by Sergio Pablos. It centers on a former supervillain turned secret agent named Gru and his yellow-colored Minions. The franchise is produced by Illumination and distributed by its parent company Universal Pictures. The film's directors have openly said that the studio forced them to do the twin brother plot line, and they had almost no idea how to make anything interesting out of it. Which just makes the fact that the fourth movie is apparently giving this one the _Cars 2_ treatment and pretty much totally ignoring it even funnier.

The side plot with Gru getting fired was completely pointless. I think the writers really did want the new director to be in league with the main villain but then someone messed with the script at the last minute.

This movie just completely pulled a Hotel Transylvania 3, and go totally off the rails. Not only did the get one of the South Park creators to voice the villain, they also got Steve Carrell to voice two different characters who are also brothers. It’s like they finally ran out of ideas and just said “f*** it. This is what we’re doing now.”

The third movie shoulda been about the girls getting older and Gru feeling a bit outta place bc they're becoming more independent and yadda yadda and to bond with them, Gru could've taken them on an evil mission (against their wishes) it was supposed to be something kinda simple and not too dangerous, but things go awry as things escalate and they uncover this super evil guys plans. Like big time bad guy. And as Gru tries to step away from this bc of the girls, the girls can show interest bc they'll wanna bust this criminal and be heroes! Meanwhile the B plot can be Gru's wife can be investigating that same mega villain and perhaps planning a heist. Her scenes will consist of cool action, suspense, and she'll be with the minions, so whatever the minions do. The storylines will conjoin with the wife fighting the mega villain on like a flying machine (how I envisioned it) and Gru and the girls can be on the same vehicle thingy and it's a "What are yOoOoOuUu doing here?!!" And BOOM! They get imprisoned. Ofc they escape (maybe with the help of the minions) and the defeat the mega villain before he destroys the frickin world or whatever super evil thing he was tryna do.

I think it’s crazy how the second movie got a subplot of Dr. Nefario leaving Gru’s employ to work for another supervillian, kidnap Minions, mutate them into monsters, turn on his employer, and go back to Gru… Only be Ted 2’d by an actor issue. Only Russel Brand is Mila Kunis.

The twin brother bit sucked ass, but I fuckin LOVED that villain, like he’s the only one that’s TRULY nuts. Obsessed with his own image/merch, and he doesnt want to be wealthy, or rule the world, so he needs to be a villain: he just wants to BE a villain. Crime for crimes sake. On kors idea of making the new boss Bratt in disguise, imagine how much more forgiving people would be on the lazy premise if DRU was Bratt in disguise. Or my favorite, BOTH are him and maybe a few other characters just to make it ridiculous, more focused, less predictable, and personally, they COULD have had Trey Parker voice all the disguises and I would have found that funny. Imagine having trey Parker do a gru voice to be his brother for the whole movie, that'd make the shitty jokes a little more worth it.
