That’s what’s so great about her character even with all she’s accomplished solving the case getting the bad guys she’s still so supportive and happy for her husband’s painting getting on the 3 cent stamp

The Mike scene also has the effect of Marge discovering that she can be tricked if she feels sympathy for the person tricking her. After she finds out Mike lied to her, she goes right back to Jerry.

I vote yes for reading movie trivia. It makes your channel distinct, and you clearly have a lot of fun doing it.

My husband and I (Minnesotans) saw Fargo in the theater and couldn't stop laughing on our way home because we kept hearing our own accents and colloquialisms while talking about the film. It made us aware of it. I'd always assumed we didn't have a regional accent. Little did I know. I have to add that the topography of Minnesota is really varied and stunning. So much more than flat farm fields. Beautiful state.

Peter Stormare, a Swede, said that Minnesota was more Swedish than Sweden. He went into a number of restaurants that displayed the Swedish flag and pictures of the King and Queen.

I once went on a date with a girl and we went to see this movie. Afterwards, she told me she hated it. I immediately knew she wasn't for me.

Fargo is the rare “perfect” film. It is insanely re-watchable (I’ve rewatched dozens of times) and is anchored by Frances Mcdormand’s epic performance as Marge Gunderson. Script, direction, cinematography and supporting cast are firing on all cylinders.

"Burn After Reading" is an underrated comedy classic from the Coen brothers. Definitely worth watching.

Your videos are long enough for an in depth, fun reaction, providing more insight than most others who simply watch a film, give their opinion, and end of video. A pretty cool piece of Coen Bros trivia is that because they had Buscemi’s character doing all the talking in Fargo, that when Steve was cast in Lebowski the script called for Goodman’s character to always tell Buscemi to “Shut the f*^k up!”

I love the trivia section! I always read the trivia for movies too. Frances McDormand is a master actor, and she’s so brilliant in this role. She really nails the upbeat accent talking about gruesome homicide.

I love the trivia section, it's one of my fave features that is specific to your channel, and I don't mind if you make that section LONGER! If you're getting into it, no need to cut it short on our account! I always enjoy seeing what you discover; sometimes I know it already, sometimes I don't. The scene with Mike also helps moves the plot forward, because once she realizes that he completely lied about being married, it makes her think back to her meeting with Jerry and makes her suspicious of him. If you like this movie, I'd say that the TV show is just as good if not better, at least the couple seasons I've seen. Ideally, I'd say watch the show on the channel, but it's very well made regardless. Thanks for the trivia section as usual!

This is a Minnesota accent, not midwest. The midwest accent is more generic and is considered the closest to a stereotypical American accent. It's therefore what gets chosen for many of the nationwide newscasters and journalists.

Adore this movie. Really appreciate that you do the trivia bit at the end of each reaction. It’s a great way to learn more about the films. I actually wish more reactors would do stuff like that. A couple of things about Fargo that are cool to know as well: the actress who played the wife of William H. Macy isn’t the same woman who has a hood on her head in the rest of the film. That’s an extra since it cost less money to pay an extra to wear a sheet on their head. Also, there’s one distinct parking lot scene where you can see no snow in the distance since they used artificial snow in most scenes. Just a slip-up on their part.

Nominated for 7 Oscars including Best Picture, but won for Best Actress Frances McDormand and Best Original Screenplay. The English Patient Won Best Picture and Best Director, as well as 7 other Oscars.

I saw this in the theatre. It is still one of my fave movies. The Fargo TV series is also really good. The Big Lebowski is a good movie to see after this one.

Blood Simple, Raising Arizona, Miller's Crossing, The Man Who Wasn't There, Hudsucker Proxy, The Big Lebowski, No Country For Old Men, Ballad Of Buster Scruggs, and Oh Brother... are all BRILLIANT and worth checking out. Although it wasn't connected to the movie there was an awesome TV series called 'Fargo' that followed.

Fargo is one of my favorite films. This is one of the few films I’ve seen where you just FEEL the screenplay. Of course a lot of credit goes to the performances, but the screenplay is so strong. I strongly recommend watching the FX series, even if you don’t do a reaction for it. Definitely a great series.

I loved the scene at the buffet, brings me back to the many trips to the buffet table I made. Loved the food.

Great movie! Great reaction! We recently lost one of the truly amazing actors. William Hurt had an incredible career. I wanted to suggest that you react to one of his movies to honor his life. I would suggest the amazing drama Children of a Lesser God (1986), the comedy/drama/romance Broadcast News (1987), the crime/detective thriller Gorky Park (1983) that takes place in Cold War Soviet Union, or The Big Chill (1983), the movie that really defined a generation. You can’t wrong with these or any of his films.

Love the trivia. The subplot with Mike does add a nice slice of life and develops Marge's character a bit but also adds some verisimilitude to a story that's fiction pretending to be fact.

So I hate to admit it but I watch Fargo many times a year. From the theater as soon as it was on DVD and now streaming... It never gets old. I watch it during the summer here in Az. Going to bed at night it instantly makes your body and room feel cooler! Lol, great movie and great reaction as usual.

Peter Stormare plays in a band called "Blonde from Fargo" named after his role in this movie. At one point Peter Stormare was talking to a director about a part in a movie and the director asked him if he would be able to give a performance similar to that blonde guy from Fargo, not knowing that it was Stormare who had played that role. Stormares reply was simply no, that would be too hard for him.

That's so funny! Winter of '95? My friend was on a cross-country skiing trip in Minnesota then. I was watching the weather news and was worried for him. They had a low of -60F during his trip. Luckily he is the most prepared hiker/biker/camper ever. Afterwards he said he still had a couple pieces of clothing that he hadn't used yet, but some of the other people were hurting. And they were filming this movie at the same time. What a hoot! Oh, he didn't actually know how cold it was because their thermometer stopped at -30F - probably a mercury one. Mercury goes solid at -40 so the thermometer is not doing well at -30F.

OMG! As much as you love Frances McDormand, you must watch her in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. She won Best Actress Oscar for this performance....... as well as this movie and Nomadland. She plays a very intense character in Three Billboards. One of my top ten movies ever.

Frances McDormand definitely deserved her Academy Award, but let's mention the excellent portrayal of Jerry by William H. Macy..

At the end talking about teaching them to speak Minnesotan, I couldn't help thinking of the same situation Kate Winslet went though trying to get a particular dialect of Pennsylvania. She does a wonderful crack up of SNL doing a take on her.

As a native Minnesotan, I love this movie. The accents are exaggerated for the cities, but you can certainly find them on the Iron Range. The music is just... right in the feels. It's really a classic movie.

I first watched it in film appreciation class in about 2004. The fact that it was on laser disc and projected in the theater sized lecture hall added to cinematic experience.

Burn After Reading is my favorite Coen Bros. movie. It actually has a somewhat similar plot to Fargo, though more generally comedic. Frances McDormand is utterly hysterical. As is George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and John Malkovich, in particular.

Fargo is a great movie to watch with Roger Deakins' commentary on. Tons of really subtle things that really sell the film that you hardly notice, but are clearly there when pointed out.

Seems like many Coen Brothers movies utilize heavy regional accents and have the films' locations act as supporting characters, in a way. Fantastic storytelling!

Iconic flick. We've been quoting lines from this and other Cohen movies for so many years now......Total fun.

One of the best movies ever! I love how the criminals are all so amazingly stupid. Jerry pays ex cons with a car that can be traced back to where he works. He's paying them $40k to pick up a bag with a million dollars in it. The kidnappers forget to put their tags on their car. Carl thinks he's being smart by stealing plates from another car, but then chooses a place that probably has cameras and then makes a huge scene with the toll gate guy to make sure he is clearly remembered. It goes on and on. The only smart character in the story, besides Margie, is Jerry's kid who asks all the questions that the adults should be asking. It's total Keystone cops!

I was so excited to see this come up! This was my mom's favorite movie. :) My mom and I were born in Wisconsin and my "home" accent is very close to this, lol. I can fall into it so easily. Watching this made me miss my mom so much.

Hey Shan. Minnesota nice is a real thing. Born and raised. The accents and phrases are obviously over the top which kind of pissed a lot of people off. But I found it hilarious. Being born and raised in Minnesota but my dad from Indiana and my mom from Michigan. I don't have a heavy Minnesota accent. But I hear it in everybody else. Oh yeah, geez it's there when they talk. So glad to see this. Fargo is one of my favorite films of all time. Such a great dark comedy. Some of the funniest scenes in film history-my favorites being the snow shoveling conversation and meeting the old classmate. My dad and I consistently quote this movie.

For some reason the style of this movie always reminds me of an old detective mini movie series called "Columbo". Just that knowing the criminal in advance, affable sleuth, criminal slipping up, etc etc etc. Good series if you ever have the time!

Saw it in the theaters and it's an enduring favorite for myself, friends, family and all the other Michiganders in my life. I think you nail it as far as how the lurid story contrasts with the chipper mundanity. I love the Coens and this is maybe their best.

Roger Deakins did the cinematography on Fargo and Oh Brother Where Art Thou. He was the cinematographer on a lot of Coen Bros movies including No Country For Old Men

If u enjoyed Frances McDormand in this u need to check out Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017), she won her second oscar for her performance in that film and has magnificent performances from both Woody Harrelson and Sam Rockwell in it and is written and directed by Martin McDonagh, one of the best writer/directors working right now.

I love this movie. It's my favorite Coen Brothers film next to O Brother Where Art Thou. Franny Mc is insanely good; so is William H. Macy. I love how almost every scene with Marge and Norm together involves eating. The two of them are comedy gold.

Oh, also, the buried money that is left unaccounted for comes back into play in the Fargo TV series, which you would think couldn't match the movie but is aMAZing.

Not sure how interested you are in TV, but the Fargo TV show is absolutely amazing. The first two seasons especially. It's not like a remake or anything of this movie, it's just new stories told in this kind of dark, comedic, Fargo-y way. Truly, truly some of the best TV of the last decade, however. Highly recommend to check out in your personal time.

Fargo is a wonderful movie from the Coen Brothers . Another is the b&w film noir, The Man Who Wasn’t There. It stars Billy Bob Thornton, James Gandolfini and Scar Jo.

I remember watching this with some friends and the whole staff of the theater the night before its release. Top 3 all time experience. Not just movies.

I remember the Siskel and Ebert review of this. Ebert said that while they were watching the movie together, after the guy sweeping in the street told his story, Siskel leaned over and said "this is why I watch movies." At least, that's how I remember it.

I grew up in a rural area with lots of farmland. It really does get like that in the winter. Just a flat, white void in every direction. No protection from the wind, so snow is blowing in front of you, all over the road, and it keeps pushing your vehicle, so you're constantly compensating for that. Luckily it's also a perfectly straight, very level stretch of road, but it could be terrifying in the winter.

Love the commentary and faq you do at the end!! Really like this movie it’s a gem- 10/10 it’s always so much fun to watch you watch movies!

Went to see in theaters at the time with a friend of mine. We and one other guy behind us were laughing so hard throughout at the ridiculousness of the dialog contrasted with the story. Everyone else dead silent through whole thing. I don't think they knew how to react it was so dark and brutal.

oh, something that I recognized from a later show (No Country for Old Men) was the 'headlights on the horizon' which opened a new plot sequence.

The only lines that top Frances McDormand's lines in this move are "Rollie! You take that diaper off your head and you put it back on your sister!"

As computer programmers we often use code names for projects while they are in development. One extensive data processing application I worked on took in data from a variety of sources and created a single stream of combined data to be inserted into a massive database. It's code name was "Trapper." But as often happens last minute changes were demanded and the single stream became first a handful and then a dozen or more streams of data coming out the bottom of the process. After seeing the movie _Fargo_ one of the programmers noted that our clean and efficient application had become a "bloody mess" much like the wood chipper from the movie. After that the development team began to refer to the project as "Chipper."

I love this movie. I remember telling on of my cousins to watch it, but she didn't get it at all. She said "you said this was a comedy, people died." Lol I am also a trivia junky. I look up the IMDB trivia all the time.

At one time I lived about 2 blocks away from where they shot Jerry's office scenes, it was a defunct dealership, demolished, that is now HQ for Best Buy.
