These are probably their best songs in my opinion. Other great songs by them include The Loving kind (written by the pet shop boys), Something kinda Oooh, Love Machine & The Show.
Girls Aloud had their brilliant song writing team, Xenomania behind most of their hits. They had 5 albums between 2002-2008 and reuinted for their 10th anniversary in 2012/2013 before splitting. Their music is fab. Call the Shots is a banger. X
You should have a look at the video when Nadine Coyle got kicked out of the Irish version of Pop Idol, it turned out she lied about her age and then got rumbled.
I love The promise they are my favourite girl band I've seen it live but not sure if lip synching I just love that song, have I spelt that correct not sure I mean lip synching never mind ,lovely to see your smile again, I have been watching keep waiting to see George again, we had a 2 part documentary about him it's new but all it went on about that he was gay not one mention about his wonderful songs so not sure how I felt about it but any how who cares 😊❤😊❤😊
Love Girls Aloud. They were the new (slightly less popular) Spice Girls of their generation! Whole catalogue of really catchy songs. RIP Sarah Harding, taken from us far too soon.
Best British girl group ever, they don’t have a bad single. I’d check out Whole Lotta History, Something New, Something Kinda Oooh and Love Machine next
"Biology" and "Sexy! No, no, no..." are among their best songs. I remember the first time I heard "Sexy! No, no, no...", I was mindblown. Their production team, Xenomania, really loved to play with different sounds and were not afraid to think outside the box. That's what made their songs so incredible.
Best American reaction channel ever! Thank you for not shouting, laughing in excitement, speaking over the music, or pausing too much, and thank you for being a cool and intelligent person reacting to awesome stuff in a lovely way.
OMG! Been waiting so long for this. You probably picked the best 4 to get a good idea of who they were as a band. Next time try Sound Of The Underground, The Show, Can't Speak French, Wake Me Up. For live performances... The Promise at The Brits was pretty special, Something Kinda Ooooh at The Girls Aloud Party, Call The Shots on The Paul O'Grady Show.
Love Machine, Can't Speak French and Sound of the Underground are other good songs by them. They did The Promise live on the X-Factor ( I think it was live - they were on the stage anyway!).
New to your channel but got here through this video, Girls Aloud are one of (if not) my favourite bands of all time. Every song is an absolute banger and I thank you for not just writing them off as generic pop, they covered many genres within that pop category and i think they’re fantastic.
@WarrenJ1982 well how can the band not be the same without her ?... they haven't performed in 10 years . Sarah died 2 years ago. So how could you possibly know that the band isn't the same without her if they ain't performed without her!
For The Promise there are some stunning performances from The Brit Awards and Royal Variety Performance (very glam with live vocals too). However my personal favourite live performance of the song was on the Jonathan Ross show. Their harmonies are outstanding and theirs a great live band too 🙂
I lived in the UK for almost a year in 2005 for grad school and I fell in love with each girl over that time. Then without realizing it, almost through osmosis from my one gay flatmate, I became a huge fan of GA’s music too. So innovative and catchy and singularly Girls Aloud. Their production team, Xenomania, is genius. And they have great samples too! The opening piano riff in Biology is from a 1960’s Animals b-side. And the recurring guitar riff in Sexy No No No is from 1970’s band Nazareth (from their “Hair of the Dog”)[Thanks for catching the previous error, maritta2504]. (Just to name 2 examples.) Though I’ve been back in the US for 18 years, I’m still a big fan. I may be their only straight male fan in the US, but they’re still in my regular car rotation with my punk, indie, Americana and classic rock! 😄🤷🏻♂️ Not only are their songs catchy, their videos fun and their personalities so distinct, every time I hear a GA song it takes me back to England in my early 20s. The best of times.
@@maritta2504 omg! I read your comment and thought, “well of course it does, that’s what I sa-- wait a minute?! Head East?? I must have been distracted. I meant Nazareth. Thanks for catching.
You just reacted to my favourite GA singles. ❤ They just bring back so many great memories. Girls Aloud were so big in UK and released so many perfect pop songs. Shame they don’t seem like will ever get back together for a special reunion, and with Sarah’s passing it seems even more difficult to happen.
The great thing about British girlbands, but also the reason they don’t sell in the US is they’re quirky. America does big pop, Britney, N*Sync etc and Britain couldn’t compete at that level. So what we do is invent our own sound of pop. Xenomania are the Team behind most of GA’s hits and some Sugababes - Round Round. Their USP is mashing 2 or 3 songs to create a pop bop that is distinctive to them as a Production Team but also unique to the US markets and separates your sound and our sound in charts.
This reaction was the perfect birthday gift. Thank you very much. I love Girls Aloud and love seeing people discover them. I love these tracks and videos. I'd love to see more GA reactions. Something kinda ooh, Untouchable, wake me up, no good advice, sound of the underground ❤
Senoooor Pancaaaaake! So happy you did this. If you feel like 4 more (knowing that in the beginning, budget was... not there) - Sound of the Underground, Love Machine, Untouchable, Can't Speak French
With 21 top 10 hits in the Uk you can easily make 5 of these video's , also you will love their LIVE productions too as the girls use a lot of half naked male dancers in their sets lmao 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Can’t believe I get to see them 21 years later in 2024 albeit tinged with sadness without our Sarah but what a banger of a show the gals are goin to put on in her honor….😘❤️🥰
Girls aloud were very boundary pushing with their sounds and music. That’s what made them stand out and get praised. Watch the promise live @ the Brits. Also you should dive into Cheryl’s videos. She’s the brunette from the group she went solo and was massive 2008-2014 in the uk
It’s really hard to have a band that isn’t comparable to another sonically or even in image but GA was very much it’s own sound and image. I also like that it’s both obvious Nadine is “lead singer” and sang most of the demos but everyone gets showcased and it wouldn’t have worked any other way. Each of the girls sits nicely into their parts of each song. My only criticism is that Nicola usually got parts that didn’t showcase her range. It’s fine though because during the TEN tour she took her flowers on all the songs haha
YESSS Omg would love for you to react to live stages, theyre so fun. If you want recs, The promise live at the royal variety and the brit awards, revolution in the head live, sexy no no no tangled up tour, Fling Tangled up tour, just to get you started lol.
All their singles except the last one from Ten where produced by Xenomania. Almost all other songs from all albums apart from some of the first album and some from Ten where exclusively produced by Xenomania.
Yes, love your review of Girls Aloud! My favourite Girl Group! I know the Spice Girls were bigger but for me Girls Aloud were better. Better singers, for one, but their songs were so much better. Like you said they were very versatile and their songs are such pop classics and all have a unusual song structure. That was typical of their Xenomania songwriting/production team. A lot of their songs were like 3 songs in one. Songs like Biology, they weren't just the standard verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus repeated to fade, etc. I like that you never knew where the songs were going. Xenomania did a lot of songs with Sugababes too and you can hear that unorthodox songwriting style on many of their tracks too. It's a shame they never became more successful internationally. It's so sad watching Girls Aloud videos now, seeing poor Sarah. So awful what happened to her. RIP Sarah. I saw Girls Aloud in concert and they always put on a great, fun show. You said you'd like to hear The Promise live, well here's the link to my own video that I took the second to last time I saw them, on their final tour in 2013: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0bYOWIf7QTw.html Lol, in the clip Cheryl gets the biggest cheers because the concert was in her home town of Newcastle! I really miss them. I know if they ever reformed it wouldn't be the same without Sarah but it would still be nice to see Nicola, Kimberley, Cheryl and Nadine perform together again sometime. Would love you to react to more of their songs/videos. The Show, Love Machine, Untouchable, Wake Me Up, Whole Lotta History, No Good Advice, Sound Of The Underground (their first single), Can't Speak French - so many great songs. :)
OMG They were amazing and had such a career. 🤩 They set the standard for UK girl bands in the 00’s (including those that came after like The Saturdays) I remember them being formed on a TV show in the UK called Popstars The Rivals back in 2002. The amazing Xenomania was the production team they worked without through their career. I don’t think sonically they ever missed the mark. Other great songs you should check out are The Show, Something Kinda Oooh, The Loving Kind, Jump, No Good Advice, Love Machine, Something New, Sound of the Underground, I’ll Stand By You, Whole Lotta History, I Think We’re Alone Now, Long Hot Summer, Life Got Cold, Untouchable. They also did a collab charity single called Walk This Way (Ft. The Sugababes- another amazing UK girl group). Girls Aloud had 5 members- Nadine (lead vocals especially early in career), Cheryl, Sarah, Kimberley and Nicola. Unfortunately Sarah passed away just over a year ago from cancer (she was 39).
Their debut single "Sound of the Underground" would be great. "The Show", "Love Machine", "Something Kinda Ooooh".. I wanted to say "On the Metro", but it doesn't have a music video.
Here’s the live performance at The Brits (similar to the Grammys). Also RIP Sarah (the platinum blonde one) and welcome back Girls Aloud for their 20th anniversary reunion tour! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zl6gXaRYGME.htmlsi=D-vOGSaaIAmS7qcl
Girls Aloud were brilliant. Other favourites of mine The Loving Kind Wake Me Up No Good Advice Love Machine Untouchable Sound of the Underground The Show Can't Speak French Sound of the Underground Something New
Please do Sound Of The Underground, The Show, Love Machine and The Loving Kind for part 2! Then you need to do No Good Advice, Life Got Cold, Wake Me Up and Something Kinda Ooooh for part 3! 🙏🏼
And also react to their song GRAFFITI MY SOUL. The album version. It's a britney reject and weirdly enough the song is catchy as hell even though it doesn't have a chorus😅😁
You definitely should react to Steps! 😃 Both their old and new stuff. Old: 5, 6, 7, 8 Tragedy Deeper shade of blue Summer of love Hand on your heart New: Scared of the dark No more tears on the dancefloor Glitter & gold What the future holds
Can't wait for vol. 2, very surprised you didn't do Sound of the Underground with it's incredible bass. Great girl group, got a bit sad with Sarah's solo in the last song, RIP Sarah. I don't know if I mentioned this in your previous video where you were introduced to them but they were formed on the UK Version of Pop Idol, at that time this series was called Pop Stars: The Rivals, and subsequently signed to Simon Cowell's label, but each of the girls could sing and they were a delight to watch and hear, never having a bad song. They had 20 consecutive top 10 hits here in the UK and are well remembered by those around at the time when they were pumping out the hits.
Seeing a Gen Z showing luv for my fave 2000's GG really warmed my heart 🥲 My Recommendations for a Girls Aloud part 2 would be: Something Kinda Ooooh Sound Of The Underground Love Machine Something New
Yay how I've missed you 😍 and double yay for doing more GA. They really were leagues above all their competitors with their unique sound and style. Soooo many good songs 😍😍 I personally would like to see you react to Every Now & Then. It was never officially released as a single as far as I know but the tune and the video are complete serves 😍😍😍
Do Sound of the underground, Love Machine, The Loving kind and Can’t speak French next time. I’d say the full album version of Untouchable but it doesn’t have a video and the single edit is awful
Best girl group from in the UK 22 top 10/5’s and number 1’s they lasted ten years did a ten year tour with new music and now they are back together ready for 2024 for new music and 20years in the music business and also we won’t have Sarah Harding 😢we miss you Sarah R.I.P. ❤ these are on the same line as the Sugababes
They were my first concert, I saw them in 2008 just before they broke up for that period, I was 11. Absolutely loved it 😭. These women *really* influenced my taste in music, i think they're why I love songs in the minor key and heavy production to this day.
Canny beat a bit of girls aloud. Love this group and they paved the way for little mix. More plz. Pluss I love ur witty commentary. Plz do more girls aloud 😍🥰🥰🥰
The first minute and six seconds of Sexy No No No is pure pop perfection. Biology still their best single. GA were HUGE but should’ve been bigger than they were. Roll on The Girls Aloud Show in June 🤩🤩🤩
Biology is one of the greatest pieces of pop music EVER. The First time you listen to the song it just sounds very STRANGE, but the song keeps growing on you in such a way that is unexplainable
