Notice how Robin Williams calls him son. Particularly during the "it's not your fault" scene. "look at me son. It's not your fault". He was trying to portray his father telling him directly that it's not his fault and he takes the blame. Extraordinary psychology work.

I used to live up the road from Robin in Topanga Cyn. CA. I designed & built the entrance gate to his house, so I had time to hang out with him on a number of occasions. I have never known any person as complex. Often he would run on like an unstoppable joke machine & at others he would be silent and morose. Once I brought that up and he said jokingly "It's the only way I can deal with the pain". We found out later that the pain won. Still miss him deeply.

@Devin G as both a victim of abuse and a man who lost his wife of 17 years 2 years ago I get both sides of this film. Will would rather hurt then be hurt and his genius IQ allows him to read people in seconds. Williams allows him to TRULY understand the abuse the beatings were not his fault. An as the man who lived and now lives for his wife I can understand his rage and throat grip trying to remind Will there are some places " you just don't go" the pain is too deep and anger lava hot. Just a brilliant movie and like always you always do the emotional scenes justice, Best wishes good Sir

As much as we like to think Will and Skylar get back together and live happily ever after, the movie is intentionally left open ended to illustrate that the real message is Will has garnered the ability to spread his wings and make good life choices regardless of existential circumstances. You really did get it which isn’t always the case. Not everyone understands someone like this even when it’s presented to them so succinctly like in this movie. Bravo to u for that. I was told something once that stuck w me. We choose to do things that make us comfortable. And for ppl who’ve been abused it feels normal cause that’s what we’ve had to deal w. It isn’t normal but it’s what we’ve experienced so it feels comfortable even tho it shouldn’t. So being outside our comfort zone is important , especially if uv experienced abuse cause u won’t experience anything else if u just stay in ur comfort zone.

A child being physically abused, neglected and in a home where there is mental illness and alcoholism is equivalent to a soldier in intense combat during wartime. It causes PTSD for the child that will stay with him his entire life...and in this film you can see what this does to the now adults decision making skills....it's all caused by the abuse at such a young age. What Will does and says in this film makes perfect sense to me...some of the finest acting that I have ever seen by Matt and Minnie.

The problem that took "2 years" is pretty simple. You just have to find all the ways of connecting 10 nodes together with no cycles (where a node goes to another node, and that node goes back to the first node), and the ways have to be unique in that one can't be transformed into another by moving the nodes around. Ten minutes and a piece of paper and most people could figure it out.

Math is a language. It's the language of the universe. Many people don't like math because they've been taught mostly algebra and they believe that's what math is. Math is much more than algebra and boring formulas. There's an incredible amount of beauty in it. I've always been an atheist and the only fully religious experience I've had was when neutron decay clicked for me and I suddenly got it. I was drinking in my room alone, thinking about the book I was reading on QCD. The beauty is in the simplicity, despite the years of training it takes to understand it. It literally clicked for me in a second and I was suddenly crying like a baby and had an out of body experience. It lasted for about a minute. Best experience of my life and I'll never forget it. Since then I've understood what people mean when they say they experience god and his glory. I don't believe in god but I feel like I understand the experience of the people who worship.
