@@feather_louise lol, he'd have 0 clue on what's happening and probably be like: oh- uhh, let's see here, we have a yellow floating- what- what is that? a floating dorito? floating geometrical pyramid? a giant yellow triangle with a top hat and whatnot? idk man, I have no context on this, and- WHAT IS THAT???? *Continuesly freaking out on what the hecc is going on* he'd be guessing who good ol' Chipher is XD (he probably won't find this, probably cuz I'm not the kind to tell spoilers for anything, so hopefully he doesn't know TvT")
If it makes you feel any better about the fact that it's relatively short for an animated show, know that it is because the creator chose so, he wanted to tell a story and once he had done so he ended the show to avoid ruining his show with filler content meant to just make more money for the company. He cares about the characters and world and didn't want it to just be another outlet for merch and such
Yeah, it's short but it's also a perfectly complete story which is a pretty rare thing for serialised shows. Better this than being dragged forever and then running out of steam.
So the foreshadowing with Dipper accidentally opening the journal to the gnomes page is something that this show does a *lot*, but you won't notice most of the foreshadowing that they do until season 2. There are a lot of episodes in season 1 that you may think are just filler episodes that are fun but don't have much to do with the overall story/lore of Gravity Falls. Those episodes are usually full of things that foreshadow what's going to happen in much later episodes, though, as well as character development that will be important later. This is one of those shows where after you've watched the last episode, you'll want to go back and watch from the beginning again to see all of the things that you missed in earlier episodes, because they very clearly had most of what they wanted to happen in the show planned out right from the beginning, and they dropped hints all over the place.
@@grinder5000314483 I'm not going to say any specifics because of spoilers, but look in the backgrounds of scenes, pay attention to remarks that sound like off the cuff one-liners, and try to read anything written that appears on screen (you'll probably need to pause for most written things). Lots of things are subtly referenced long before the episodes where those things become relevant.
@@grinder5000314483 Also, spoilers. Every episode of the second season is apparently a call-back to the same episode in season 1. Zombie theme this episode, actual zombies in episode 1 of season 2. The blue kiiinda friendly ghosts in season 1? Northwest ghost season 2. That fighting game character coming to life in season 1? Dating Sim Yandere character coming to life in season 2. Y'know. Stuff.
THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME WATCHING GRAVITY FALLS?! Man, you are in for a ride You are lucky for seeing it for the first time and experiencing this magnificence for the first time
alex hirsch, the creator of the show, voices a shit ton of characters in it too. everyone from grunkle stan, soos, and another huge character you’ve yet to meet to the main gnome and a ton of background characters, it’s crazy awesome
If you decide to turn this into a series I'd watch the SH*T out of it!! Gravity Falls is a masterpiece of a cartoon. I also recommend you to watch the other's episodes regarding Helluva Boss because I think i'ts a really neat show, but I totally understand if it isn't your vibe.
Welcome to _Gravity Falls!_ Fasten your seatbelts; you're in for quite a ride. The first season is _mostly_ set-up and introduction, via stand-alone episodes, with a relatively minor arc of its own. The second season then takes everything that's been introduced and weaves it into an _amazing_ tale, slowly answering all the mysteries that were built up, and culminating in a great finale that sticks the landing. It's an instant classic, that still has people clamouring for more, despite the fact that the story has been told in its entirety.
Now I'm scared- I finished rewatching steven universe fully.. A week later matthew reacts to it. Then, I finish rewatching gravity falls fully... Again Matthew reacts a week later
As a major Gravity Falls fan (like I’m watching this while wearing a replica of Dipper’s hat and have written Gravity Falls fanfic) this was a very pleasant surprise!
I love seeing people react to this for the first time, it’s such a good show I’d love to see more reactions to the other episodes in this show! There are so many mysteries and things to be solved within it
Something you should know about this show, every little detail is important, keep your eyes peeled for secrets, and your memory sharp for anything a character says in an episode that sounds important, because it might come up again in a later episode. I'll give you the first detail. When Dipper and Mabel are cornered at the Mystery Shack by the giant gnome, there's someone who briefly appears hiding in the bushes in the background.
Arguably THE golden Age of Disney animation. Ya had your Phineas and Ferb level of stuff with more nonsensical with real deep and touching moments. And then ya had your occasional Gravity Falls where everything just became a lot more real.
i’m so happy that you’re watching this!! this show is a perfect balance of humor and mystery. i know you’re sad that there’s only two seasons, but honestly gravity falls has one of the most satisfying endings of any cartoon i’ve watched. it told the story it wanted to tell and didn’t overstay its welcome. i think you’ll love it.
Could you listen to a band called “Tally Hall?” They are super underrated and have tons of good songs like “Hidden in the Sand.”, “The Bidding.”, “Ruler of Everything.” and "Turn the Lights Off." Also, I’m super happy that you watched gravity falls. It’s a great show, and it gets even better as it goes on.
The funnest thing about this show is it leaves tons of hidden little conspiracy stuff Like the credits almost always have a cipher in them, messages hidden in the intro if you play it backwards, that kind of thing Some of them are more foreshadowing than others, the credits ones are usually just something funny, but it's just really cool and makes so much sense with the theme. It was super fun to follow along with as people figured stuff out while the show aired There's probably even a spoiler free guide somewhere if you want to look it up
Just letting you know, many details and plotpoints will be either referenced again in the future or foreshadowing for future episodes, even some things going on in the background that don't seem to have any importance. That's why I love this show so much.
I'm so exited that you are staring the show!!! It's literally my fav cartoon, if you stay the credits, you'll see that there are encripted messages (that actually give you kind of spoilers) and everything it's gonna make sense at the end... just... it's completely worth it, hope you finish it!!
Remember not to put spoilers in the comments! I am so happy you are finally watching this beloved series and I can't wait to hear your reaction to the weirdness you are embarking into.
Man, Gravity Falls was one of the first shows I properly fell in love with. I'm super excited to see someone watch it with fresh eyes, so I can do so vicariously.
If you like to try figuring out mysteries- more specifically codes- yourself, Gravity Falls has you covered with that, too! Just watch the end credits and keep your eyes open for a seemingly senseless string of letters The Intro of each episode has a hint on how to solve the code in its end credits Hope you're gonna post more Gravity Falls reactions ^^
I am so happy you're reacting to this series! It's one of my all time favourites and seeing you react to more of it would make me (and I assume many others) really happy! Idk if you'll see this but I would like for you to react to Bill Wurtz if you could? His music is off the charts chaotic but ultimately my favorite songs come from him because of how relatable they can be and how they hit a little note in my brain that makes me happy lmao
it gets a lot better as the show progresses, idk if you've watched further yet or not but just letting you know that, season one keeps getting better and season two is on a whole new level :)
Just so you know, at the end of the credits for just about every episode is a special code you can decipher. Mostly for fun, but some of them are hints to the lore and stuff
I hope you watch more, this is great. (The show is actually kinda lore focused, especially starting in season 2, so it would be be if you watched it in order if you do)
Don't be sad that there are only two seasons. GF is a great self-contained story about one epic summer vacation in 2012 (keep that date in mind) It got to finish on its own terms and is better for it.
First day watching your channel and, I have to say that you, sir, are a DELIGHT! I’m won over, these are funny and great and your personality is just a happy ball of sunshine. It was your Phineas and Ferb videos that got me, but I love watching you react to one of my favorite shows. Gravity Falls FTW!
As someone who only watched gravity falls for the first time a few months ago, I though I was so late to it and that all the fans and content was gone or 6 years old, but it is so good to see a video that is really recent!
I have the book in real life and it even has dipers notes from all the episodes. plus if you put a black light on the pages it shows you secret messages.
We’re doing gravity falls (the wax figures episode adapted for the stage) for an organization called helping hands; im apart of an org at UT Austin for theatre and it was weird that I got this in my recommended :) I’m super excited for the final product and for the kids to see the show
hey Mathew! glad to see you're watching Gravity Falls! when you're done watching this, if you want more shows similar I highly recommended "The Owl House" made by Alex Hirsch's (show creator of GF) significant other, Dana Terrace! a lot of the same people worked on both shows, only TOH is currently running, and has had a bit more freedom to include more progressive themes! it's a great watch and Alex actually voices a lot of the background characters, and an mc of TOH! in the meantime though, enjoy Gravity Falls! this show pretty much raised me, and I will never stop praising it
omg you reacting to this show is making me so happy, this is one of my favorite shows ever and i cant wait to see more of these if you decide to continue!!
1:58 First instance of 618 (although upside down). If you pay attention you can see the number appear again at times, because June 18 is Alex Hirsch's birthday .w.
I just finished Gravity Falls about a month ago (though I had seen the first half of the first season many many times I just never got it the second season) and I'm so excited you're watching this it's sooooo good
Gravity falls is fricking dope. It's really funny, has good plot and gets surprisingly dark for a Disney show. They go hard with the mystery thing too, all the codes and hints. Back in the day we were all theorising about it
I JUST rewatched all the episodes in order and this is a cool way to watch it again! Hopefully you watch all the episodes because the end is SO GOOD!! ALSO!!! I absolutely LOVE your nails!!!
I would encourage you to look out for Easter eggs, foreshadowing, and other secret stuff. The intro has some stuff that I always love seeing, and the show itself has lots of secrets and foreshadowing. Everything has meaning!
omg gravity falls is like one of my childhood fav shows- it had so much backstory and the art style is incredible- great vid, glad to see you enjoy it just as much as me!
