I'm not the biggest fan of Sharpay but Ryan has always been my favorite character. My brother and I used to recreate their musical number bop to the top together. Their routine was the best and it won't be forgotten.
Justin Tomlinson Drama and choir people know their shit. As a kid I disliked sharpay and Ryan. Because Troy and Gabriella were going outside the box let them have it. But now, I get it. These thespians have to watch newbies come on their terf and possibly mess stuff up. Why are we doing this play? Let’s do something modern! It’s like they should have started out reading books, watching movies. Because they don’t even get rules of the theater?! One of them is a genius?! Why wouldn’t you take the time to know the do’s and don’t’s of auditions.
@A R That's not true tho. Troy ends up choosing to go to a college that offers drama and sports courses because he wants to pursue his passion for musical and theatre. He left the play because he was having and existential crises and an emotional breakdown. Not saying that he isn't a selfish dick who messed the play and let everyone down (because he is) but he still didn't do it because he wasn't serious or invested in it. (Yeah I may have watched the third movie too many times but it's the best one in my opinion. The songs are fire.)
I think they got to pick there own song for call backs, bit Gabriella and Troy went went with Kelsey's song because the whole theater thing was knew, that's why sharpay wanted the song so bad because it was probably from the musical
I've always been so confused why Troy is so careful about hiding the fact that he sings and yet the basketball team has a big musical number with Troy singing lead 😂
thatonehispanicgirl It’s because they are non diegetic musical numbers. It doesn’t actually take place and is specifically for the audience. In the first movie, Get your head in the game, stick to the status quo, when there was me and you and we’re all in this together are non diegetic. Diegetic musical numbers take place within the story and are referenced by characters. So for this movie, Start of something new, What I’ve been looking for, Bop to the top and Breaking free.
@@wilbur3220 At least she worked hard in her own movie...... Like she didnt rely on her parents' fortune to get where she wanted. Troy and Gab on the other hand, had everything handed out to them by everyone + sheer luck!
The only thing that truly made me so angry about HSM was when I later found out that Zac Efron didn't actually sing in the first movie and that it was Drew Seeley singing. That tore my little 9 year old HEART OUT LIKE YOU HAVE NO IDEA.
IM SO GLAD IM NOT THE ONLY ONE PISSED THAT SHARPAY AND RYAN WORKED SO HARD AND SANG ACTUAL BOPS JUST TO HAVE TROYE AND GABRIELLA STEAL THE SPOTLIGHT WITH THEIR BORING ASS FIRST PIECE OF WHITE BREAD ACOUSTIC VERSION OF EVERY SONG -_-
Yo but like irl if you’re late for an audition, even for a school musical, you’re out. And if you’ve committed to something else at the same time as callbacks you don’t just arrive late for callbacks. You frickin choose one. If you’re going to be in a show the casting directors need to know that you will be 100%👏 committed👏!! They aren’t going to cast you if you’re late for both auditions even if they liked your song better. Sorry the theatre kid in me was always so mad at this movie.
Late but I was a dancer as a kid and I thought it was so unfair for Sharpay and Ryan, they deserved so much better. Got so salty when my girl Sharpay didn't get that scholarship at the end of HSM3
Seriously! Rehearsals are almost every afternoon, you don't have time for any other major commitments and you'd never get a lead role if you're consistently late because you're prioritizing something else
I love how this movie makes it seem like callbacks are weeks after the initial auditions like if you're lucky you'll have a day in between, usually it's the next day
I love how sharpey is always like "I love all of you, your all my BFF's and I hope nothing separates us" at the end but then jump right into the next movie...
I think he was too old to be watching lemonade mouth, because he's the same group as I am and that movie came out when I was 16-17 and i don't know any 16 year olds still watching Disney:/
This movie always confused me because in my school, the hottest, most popular guys are in chorale and the drama club. The athletes are 1 tier down, but many popular people are in both groups.
Also, Troy and Gabriella are never "official" the entire series. The terms boyfriend, girlfriend, and dating are never used to describe them, which is just a huge red flag
Ciara actually in the 2nd one at one point troys phone rings and Chad says "girlfriend alert!" but other than that I agree Sharpay and Ryan are the victims lol
1:08 "Hello this is your FBI agent inside your webcam. Can you keep it down were in a meeting" Loved this so much 😂😂 (also i know it isn't exact quote but close enough)
Am I the only one who only recently found out that Zac didn’t sing in the first movie?...it was actually Drew Seely who sang because zac couldn’t hit the notes. my childhood 🤯
Maybe this was just me and some random observation in the series, but Gabriela and Taylor are both heading a SCIENCE scholastic decathlon, and Gabriela and Taylor have won dozens of awards and straight a's for being amazing at SCIENCE in the first movie, but in HSM 3 they say that they are majoring in PRE LAW AND POLITICS??? ARE YOU JOKING DISNEY?? Like that's the real joke here it makes no sense Another side note --- are you trying to tell me that Troy Bolton got into Berkeley? That's a laugh since all he does is obsess about his own drama
Movies to watch next; cheetah girls, high school musical 2, cadet kelley, cow bells, herbie fully loaded, smart house, the luck of the irish, pixel perfect, twitches, Wendy au homecoming warrior, read it and weep, jump in, princess protection program, lemonade mouth
OK so sharpay was actually giving Troy a complement when she said that imposible wasn’t in his vocabulary- like he’s so good at everything that nothing could ever be impossible for him. But anywhom
How is Gabriella the evil one? Sharpay literally threw herself at Troy knowing he was dating Gabriella. She treated Ryan like dirt. She was mean to Kelsi. She purposely got Troy and Gabriella in trouble in the second movie. She sabotaged them in the first movie. She acted like she was superior to everyone. Gabriella was always nice to everyone and always had good intentions. Did we watch the same movie?
You actually made some very good points that I never picked up on watching the movie years ago! If Troy never learned to control and change his behavior, he would likely end up an emotionally abusive, manipulative husband. Kinda scary that Disney portrays characters like this as desirable and sweet, when it's not sweet (or safe!) at all. 😕 Anyway, you should watch HSM2. I feel like it's deeply inferred that something is going on between Ryan and Chad (Corbin's character). A lot of people, including me, low-key ship them. 🤣
it didnt really infer anything, although i aggressively want it to lmao. the change of clothes was only to signify that now they were buddies, chad ends up with monique coleman's character whatever her name was, and ryan ends up with kelsey (which is honestly bullshit lmao)
AtomicKittenBaby I still feel it's meant to seem like something more to those who are looking for it. Disney and other companies who are too cowardly to make characters like that obviously gay/bi (by it being said in canon that they are) will often purposely give enough subtext for it to be inferred, but still have them end up being canonically "straight." (Alternatively, it may be the writer wants them to be gay but the others in charge of the movie nix the idea, so the writer has to make them technically straight, but leaves some clues as to the original intent for the character). It's pretty common, especially in kids movies, actually. So many times I've seen two characters in a movie be presented as friends only or enemies or what have you, but then you see a look they share, or something they say to each other doesn't quite match what we're being told about them, or they treat each other just a little too differently than the others, etc. No one will say they're gay, often times they'll make a point to "prove" they aren't, but the character has subtext that says they are. And usually only adults who are part of the lgbt community and are used to keeping a eye out for those subtle signals irl among a sea of hets will pick up on the hints. Kids and oblivious hets tend to miss them.
+Umbrageousparasol lmao youre reading too much into it... if the characters arent gay then they arent gay and thats about it. chad has a girl for the whole three movies, the only "clue" to anything is that they switch uniforms once. thats it. its a reach, bud
