Agree with everything but the being manipulated into being involved. The initial trial deemed that she wasn't aware prior to the assault happening and so she was charged with interfering with the police investigation. Evidence later implicated that she knew of the attack beforehand but she couldn't get retried because of the plea. They took away her right to compete competitively with the national organization.

As a past figure skater, the community is extremely toxic. Also, judges have favourites and if they don’t like you (they didn’t like Tonya) you won’t place. Needless to say, my kids will be in team sports.

I completely agree...tonya said in an interview that the ice skating association wanted her to stay in her marriage or else it'll be a bad look and to think that if she would've gotten a divorce earlier maybe none of this would've happened. not to mention the media painted nancy as such a sweetheart when she was actually kind of a brat she completely turned me off when I saw how bad her attitude was when she lost to Oksana Baiul who was only 16 years old and didn't have her family with her.

Honestly, this 110%. It's a gorgeous movie, but damn I hate Tonya Harding. Like. I was so conflicted watching it because, damn, I love Margot Robbie and Sebastian Stan, and their performances were amazing. The cinematography was gorgeous. The STORY was good. But it wasn't TRUE. And as a stand-alone movie, it's good! It's really good! But as a telling of what happened, like, yeah it's definitely Tonya and Jeff's version of what happened, and it's way skewed obviously, like fuck. But DAMN good movie aside from all that.

How is she a terrible person

Thank you! I see too many people sympathizing with her and though the abuse and harassment she received was a too far, I feel as though the film is biased. My family knew her personally and she was a pretty shitty person, we all hate her lmao

​@@Zvwry When it came to her skating, she had a victim mentality. She felt entitled to place higher because of her jumps when the issue was because of her skating skills not because she was robbed. We know, at the very least, she withheld information, and lied to the FBI about what she knew of the incident AFTER it happened. Both Gillooly and Eckardt both claimed that she had knowledge of the attack BEFORE it had happened. Which she denied in court. In 2013, Gillooly still claims that she knew, but that he regrets talking her into it. In an 2018 interview Harding states that she "knew something was up". You can interpret all that however you want to. After she was banned she did whatever she could to stay in the spotlight. Going so far as to release a s** tape with Jeff Gillooly just months after the incident. More recently she was a trump supporter and a covid denier. Those tweets have since been deleted tho so can't say much about that. Its a mess. :/

@@kieralovesjoxer123 yah im saying i think letting a whole movie be told through Tonya's idea of what happened when there is so much more to be told, is irresponsible and diminishes the seriousness of what occurred. Also the movie has a weird ass attitude towards Kerrigan in my opinion, without ever really explaining why she is talked about the way she is in the film.
