The day we were suppose to leave for our family reunion we found out that not only our house, but a lot of houses in our neighborhood were broken into and had things stolen. He was caught on camera. Before uploading this video, we followed up with the police to check the completion of the case.
After finding about the theft, the police came and dusted for finger prints and took pictures. While we were getting ready to leave we also installed some newer security devices to keep us even safer.

Yeah, so pretty scary news today. We're glad everyone is safe. We wanted to make sure we knew more after talking with the police before posting this. We're glad there was a resolution with this.

I just want to point out that a burglary is NEVER the fault of the homeowners!! Please do not blame yourselves. The blame always lies with the ones committing the crime. I am so, so glad that is wasn't any worse!!

I am so sorry that happened to y'all, but now as a routine to check all doors before turning in or leaving the house!!! You have a busy life with 3 kids & a dog and sometimes we get busy to the point of not remembering, but a "routine" is going to make you feel a bit safer. Glad the guy was caught!! Amen. 💖

Also, be aware that more crimes and kid-nappings are happening even in the day time. They are happening at stores and homes. Be vigilant always and NEVER let a day go by without asking the FATHER'S protection and covering over all your family members and pets.

I know the feeling. Someone broke in to our house in 2010 and they didn’t even take anything but it’s just knowing someone was in your private space uninvited is SO unsettling.

Honestly this is a good reason to keep vlogs behind and not post what Day it was put up. Have social media a couple days behind. That way if y’all are on a trip no one knows for a few days. My husband is a police officer. I know a lot about the topic! A lot of times at least in our area, they will learn people’s schedules and try breaking in during the day as well if they see that you have stuff that they might want. Trying not to scare you, but it happens a lot. Big dog bowls/beware of dog signs/good lighting around your house will deter a lot of people from trying to break in. So glad you had cameras and that no one was hurt!!

That's infuriating! The very thought that ANYONE thinks they are entitled to come on to private property and take something that isn't theirs....that they didn't EARN. It boils my blood. How incredibly violating and upsetting. I'm so glad everyone is okay.

Glad you guys are ok. It is the worst feeling knowing someone was in your house. When it happened to us, they took stuff, had kicked our dog and eventually I became agoraphobic for 3 years. So glad they found him.

When I was younger my house got broken into on Mother’s Day of all days and it’s just the most sickening and frightening feeling knowing a stranger was inside your home. Unfortunately for us they took almost every valuable thing my mom owned, which was everything for her. Hopefully you guys find justice and don’t blame yourselves for what happened. Does your alarm not warn you of any doors or windows opened when setting it? Ours does, so may want to look into that.

I know a lot of people that have systems that won't let you even set the alarm if a single sensor is registering as open Luckily it will tell you which sensor is not intact so you can close that window or door. Its definitely helpful when a window gets forgotten or the door didn't fully latch.

Oh my goodness! I am so sorry that this happened to you and it is completely understandable that you feel violated. You were! Years ago, 6 days after my family moved into a new house, someone broke in and stole a LOT of important documents and jewelry. They rummaged through every room in our house, during daylight. It was devastating and as a young kid in middle school... it took my sense of security. Honestly, to this day, I still get nervous in certain situations. But I am so glad that they caught the guy and the you were able to enjoy your family reunion.

Your security system should have alerted that there was an open door when you set it for sleep before going to bed! Most systems will not allow you to set the alarm if there is a door ajar/open, etc. Also, the thief obviously wasn't very smart walking around a garage with an obvious camera in view! What a bumbling idiot!

Sarah Timmerman mine will tell you if there’s a door open and if there’s a problem like a window or a door or something is open or a sensors aren’t working correctly it send a notification to my parents and then they figure it out they might have a different alarm system I have xfinity

So sorry to hear that this happened to you! I know exactly how you feel, someone broke into our house on my sisters wedding night. Luckily not much gotten taken, but our house was completely destroyed. I could not sleep in my room alone that night. We spent a majority of the next day cleaning everything up to avoid letting my sister know what happened so she could enjoy being a newlywed. Also, the individuals who broke in were caught! More creepy is they had to casing the neighborhood. Make sure your boy's know not to talk to stranger's too. They'll approach your kid's or even you at your door to see if your home. Happened in a friend's neighborhood in UT too.

It’s not even my house and watching him in your garage was SO disturbing and uncomfortable for ME. A 24 year old girl in New York who knows you guys only from social media. I know exactly how you're feeling. Our house got broken into back in 2008. We came home from work and our door was busted open. They took my jewelry box and my MP3 player. It sucked and you do feel violated. It took us awhile to feel comfortable again at home and we slept downstairs that night. At the time we didn't have kids thankfully, but still it's a horrible thing to go through. I am so sorry that you had to go through this. Praying that you feel better and safer now ❤️

We’ve never had a security system but every single night my dad goes to every single door in the house and makes sure they’re locked. We have a sliding glass door and we always have a piece of wood propped in it so it won’t slide. This made me realize how glad I am that my dad does that every night.

I feel your pain, frustration and distress - we were burgled four weeks ago and the camera that would have filmed him ransacking my bedroom drawers was not working, so I was so angry about that too. Having said that, it would have been very confronting to watch someone literally taking my personal possessions right before my eyes. It's such a violation of one's sacred space.

I think it's even scarier because the boys bedroom is downstairs and there's a door from the garage directly in to the basement. I'm SO SO glad everyone is okay. I'm so sorry this happened. We were robbed when I was a kid and I remember how violating it feels.

A similar situation happened to my family and I a few years ago. No one was home, and someone kicked in our back door. They went through EVERYTHING. Every drawer, every cabinet, but they didn't take anything! Its the feeling of someone going through your stuff that is the creepiest!
