When Covid started I bought a "Spaceballs - the Face Mask" mask. I also got my dad an "I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate" shirt.

Yea the “comb the desert” bit is probably one of my favorite parts of this movie.

What happened to the best line ?: "What's the matter, colonel Sanders? Chicken?"

I'm telling y'all. Spaceballs is a frickin Masterpiece! Now all we've gotta do is wait for: "Spaceballs 2: The Search For More Money".

Fun fact: George Lucas told Mel Brooks he could do the merchandising scene as long as he didn't actually sell merchandise. I'm still waiting for Spacecalls 2: the search for more money.

I pretty sure this means Puggapillar hasn't seen The Planet of the Apes, you know the very original film. Future suggestion film, mayhaps?

When George Lucas told Mel it was okay to parody star wars he let Mel use industrial lights and magic to do all the effects. The only catch was that Mel wasn't allowed to sell merchandise for the movie, which is the point of the merch gay, it's fucking brilliant

Mel Brooks films are simply amazing! All of his movies are priceless and filled with comedy gold from EVERY single actor! Glad you’re watching this one. Another movie of his I’d suggest watching is “History of the World: Part 1”.

When Dark Helmet tells Lone Starr "I am your father's brother's nephew's former roommate", Lone Starr asks "What does that make us?", and Dark Helmet says, "Absolutely nothing!", I really wish one of them had followed that up with, "Say it again! Good God, y'all!"

Speaking of Transformers, the Spaceballs colouring book seen at Yogurt's merchandising is actually a Transformers book with the Spaceballs name covering the title and you can clearly see Optimus Prime on the cover.

You know, the last couple times I saw this movie, when Lone Starr and Barf ask King Roland ask where Princess Vespa is, I kept thinking his answer, that she was last seen passing Jupiter 2, was a reference to something, but I couldn't think what! I just realized, the Jupiter 2 was the name of the ship on Lost in Space! Another reactor noticed that, when Lone Starr and Barf stop at that space diner towards the end of the movie, the Millennium Falcon was in the parking lot! Now I want to try to freeze that frame and see if the Jupiter 2 is also in the parking lot (or any other famous sci-fi ships).

Mel Brooks will always be the one that hits the mark for me every single time. His spoofs are the best. I love Robin Hood Men In Tights the most but this one's a close second.

Now Pug needs to see more Mel Brooks. Young Frankenstein most definitely

Now you've hit the Mel Brooks rabbit hole, you have to do others (blazing saddles, young frankenstein, Robin hood men in tights, history of the world part 1)

Okay. The bit where they were vacuuming and you went down the hall was funny. But, the fact you committed and did it in reserve when they put it back, I laughed so hard for so long. That was perfect.

One of the greatest movies of all time. Space Balls is an absolute masterpiece!!!

So I was a toddler when this came out on VHS, and it made the original Star Wars movies much easier for tiny me to follow. It's a comedy, so it moves faster, the dialogue is more punchy, etc, and it's shorter with fewer slow spots -- all much easier for a very small child to absorb and keep their attention held. So when it came to episodes IV-VI, I could recognize characters and story beats because I knew this movie. (The Jawas will always be Dink-Dinks to me.)

Pizza the hut was made of real pizza, they had so many heat fans inside that the actor nearly died. You can even look at the eyes inside the costume and see it.

FUN FACT: George Lucas wouldn't allow a spoof of Han Solo, so they made him look like Indiana Jones. BTW Them entering the ear and exiting the eye of MegaMaid is a spoof of the movie 'Fantastic Voyage' (1967). I don't think there is even one reaction to that one on YT.

The only way that George Lucas would agree to this Mel Brooks movie is if Mel Brooks never merchandised the movie, which Mel Brooks kept his word, so no the merchandise shown in the movie was only for the movie

I usually wait until my lunch break to watch videos but this one I have to see IMMEDIATELY!

I watched this when it came out back in the Triassic Era & yep--the first half is almost painfully boring. The "Temu Harrison Ford" (LOL) is Bill Pullman, who has acted in so many shows & movies. One of the few actors I genuinely like outside of the characters they play. He's pretty awesome.

Mel Brooks asked George Lucas for permission to make this parody. George said he was looking forward to it but they couldn't use his characters from the Star Wars... Mel Brooks agreed and put Lone Star in the Indiana Jones costume.

I watched this movie about a year or two ago, and even though I love Mel Brooks, this movie didn't really do it for me, except for the opening with the ship taking ages to pass by and the Alien diner scene, which is frickin' HILARIOUS! So yea...great cast though. lol.

14:33 No that’s an inside joke because George Lucas gave Mel brooks his blessing to make this movie and permission to use his special effects company to do the effects for this movie on the condition that there would be no Spaceballs merchandise because George Lucas didn’t want people to mistake Spaceballs merchandise for Star Wars merchandise because George Lucas gets most of his money from the Star Wars merchandise than the actual movies.

You could react to Harmy's Despecialized Edition or the 4K77 version of the original trilogy, before Lucas effed them up with 90s CG.

Loved that film, one of the best Mel Brooks movies. Hey you ever need more funny movies to watch just get Ghost Movie and Ghost Movie 2, they are a bit more modern, but they can also get that many laugh's out of you.

I saw this in the theater. My dad and I were excited to see it... he loved all of Mel Brooks previous films, and he loved Star Wars. He... didnt like this one. 🤣 Literally fell asleep during it. And I get why. It's fun in places, but honestly Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein outclass this one 6 ways to sunset.
