watching Velma Season 2 is VERY PAINFUL...

@@eolan7567 Well, the difference between me and the writers of this series is that I believe that characterization is important in adaptations and derivative works, including fanfiction. Velma Dinkley has a series of depictions to draw from. She's not a mere joke dispenser.

You can tell it's a different writer when the joke isn't just a character stopping to drag the scene out by explicitly explaing the joke in a snarky manner.

I swear Fred has a dedicated writer, because he's the only character that's consistantly funny.

Is hilarious how you can tell they gave all the good jokes to Fred because Glenn Howerton is the only one who can pull them off

Fred’s jokes always make me laugh for some reason. I think because he’s the butt of jokes and is supposed to be stupid, all of his comedy is just short and quippy vs the long setup that the “smarter” characters do.

I think its honestly so goddamn funny how the 'dispicable annoying rich white boy' is funnier than any of the other characters combined, I've seen some examples already but no matter how many times I see it, a writer making their Bad Guys more enjoyable than their main characters by giving them flaws and not self-inserting into them will ALWAYS be funny as crap they think that a character explaining their own jokes makes them sound smart, and then they try to portray Fred as dumb by not having him explain his jokes, like he's supposed to be so incompetent that he cant set up his own jokes... turns out spelling the punchline is the opposite of funny, and in their broken characterization *they accidentally gave him amazing comedic timing.* man you know a show is doomed when the only good thing is made completely on accident lol

Fred is the highlight of this show and the writers actively tried to make him unlikable

I think the studio ordered two seasons from the jump. It wasn't going to matter how much season 1 tanked because season 2 was already deep in production.

It's because hate watching still means views and those numbers look the same as normal watching to the execs. It doesn't matter how hated it is, if it's still getting viewers and engagement, they'll still keep making it.

@@jackofhearts5542 It isn't getting viewers, that's why season 2 was dumped all at once with such little advertising or fanfair that almost nobody knew it was happening. The majority of hate watchers are pirating it or watching it through react videos. It has a season 2 because 2 seasons were ordered (and most likely made back-to-back as one season that was split in half) and it's easier to just get it all out the way than cancle early.

Usually HBO and streaming services make money because people buy the service to watch a specific show, People already own accounts that they then use to watch Velma which makes literally no money for them. Because i REALLY doubt that people are getting the service just to watch Velma

Honestly season 2 wasnt bad. I kinda liked it.

Don't be, their time wasted as long as they received their money. besides they deserve credit for their work I think the show was beautifully colorful. It's the horrible characters and the delivery that distracts us from seeing it

It doesn't deserve that point because the show says that while actively doing exactly that themselves many times after and before this joke. Pointing out your problems doesn't make them go away. It makes them seem VERY hypocritical.

The show was (most likely) green lit for two seasons to begin with and split their first planned season into two. With the utter lack of promotion this season actually got, I think HBO max actually wants this show to die too tbh
