These are so much fun. You get to see each of them in their environment where they usually record vocals. I’m happy that Cesar came up with this. Of course, today they usually have one person doing the arrangement, but in the early days this was mostly how it was done. (Although they’d be sitting together). And in these loops you get to see each of them relaxed and having fun with the challenge. Often reactors say Voiceplay is using Autotune. First of all, these days most artists prefer Melodyne, unless they really want that ‘autotune’ fake sound. Second, the pitch has to be pretty far off tune for autocorrection to work, and these guys sing so accurately that would be difficult. And third, these guys - Eli in particular - have done so many special effects and voice acting that they have amazing control over their voices. So most effects you hear is actually them, or it’s something they added for a special effect. I’d love for you to react to the next one. Despite Geoff’s tongue in cheek comments, the only one unfamiliar with that one is Cesar.
Yep. Cesar confirmed this during @Mortius' reaction to "Dream On." He said the majority of the vocal effects are done by them live and that they DO use Post Processing for minor stuff like minor tuning and effects that can't actually be produced by the human voice (reverb, for example). But all the "electronica" effects and things like that are all made by their voices.
As many others, I'd like to see your reaction to the second loop, too. It's a bit longer and a also a great fun. In an interview Cesar explained, how the "normal" workflow is (for their "big projects" each month). The one who is in charge for the project (most times Geoff and Layne alternating) explains his vision of the cover and then creates all layers/vocal parts - and sings/records them(!) for the others. So they can listen to the whole (preview) song, get the "look & feel", the direction the version goes, then pick their parts, re-sing them with their own voice and may give suggestions or add some optional layers. The decision what finally makes its way into the release version is made by the project leader. (Rem.: I remember they tried singing the guitar solo in "Nothing Else Matters", but finally the 'VioLayne' made it, because of the element of surprise and the more exciting sound for the song). For the final post-production Ed Boyer (The Godfather of A cappella sound engineering) is doing his magic with the mix.- Oh, and of course they have to find a date for shooting the video, where all can meet in person. I can't describe, how much I respect all of them (including Kathy, of course). Not only for their sheer talent, but for all the work and effort everyone puts into every song and video. And from what I see from them, they seem to be extreme nice guys on top of that. No airs and graces, down-to-earth and tight with their community/fans.
Obviously, this isn't the way they do their arrangements, but it shows that each of them is skilled at arranging, even Cesar. Geof said in a recent interview that we rarely hear only five vocal parts. They throw in extra lines as Layne did with Eli's voice. And Layne usually has at least 5 or 10 tracks of drums. They had to rearrange We Don't Talk About Bruno when they were invited to do it live. Would love to see your reaction to the second Loop.
As has been stated, this was Cesar's idea. Not only for something different for the channel but also as a way to get to know the guys in behind the scenes kind of way. On Patreon we got to see the pitch from Cesar on the idea of the loop. I had never seen a loop like this where it's one person starts it and each person after doesn't know what they're getting until they hear it. I think it's a lot of fun. Please do loop number 2. You can already see how they expanded a bit after the first one. And that's just Eli's voice when he's doing his part. These guys have been singing for decades and have really good control over their voices.

You're blocking Cesar except for his forehead. I enjoy these - this is Cesar's project. I'm ready for him to set up another. The 2nd Loop, Geoff won the dice and picked up on Return to Sender. It's so cool and a window into some of what they do.
This is also a good way to see the guys being themselves, for those who aren't patrons or see the BTS videos. You need to be in the centre of the layout to see everyone. Not sure what you're hearing but it just sounds like singing to me. The second one is great and better known.
Yeah, I doubt if very much of VoicePlay's fandom has seen the Barbie movie. A few people who happen to have daughters in just exactly the right age range (which would be, what, 8-12 maybe?) will have seen it, and I'm sure VP has *some* fans who are in that age range themselves, due to all the Disney covers they do, but I don't imagine it's the bulk of their audience. It's definitely not just you.
