Great update of the hives Brian 👍😁 this is the coldest winter my girls have been through in VA yet. Lots of rain, snow and high winds here. Luckily temps will be back up in the 50s and 60s this weekend. Looking forward to peaking in on the girls, guessing they will be ready for more food.
Thanks Jessica. I'm most likely get an OAV treatment on them this week and use a camera to check the insides, can't wait to share this new camera I have.
My bees were doing cleansing flights yesterday after being cooped up for about 10 days. I'm just glad they survived the below zero weather we had this past week.
Well Brian as soon as you get enough experience with those conditions I am sure Ian will host you and you can have a turn with the EZ loader! Once you get that experience then you can come down here to warmer conditions and teach me!
I think most of the country has seen issues related to global warm. . . oh nm. . LOL. . Yeah, I was worried when I saw the mud stream going through the yard that I might have had issues Luckily only 1 stand sunk like a inch or two. I guess going overboard in construction pays off.

Oh wow, you know Chagrin. I visit Chagrin several times a year. My brother lives like 15 mins from there. And, a guy jumped in? That's nuts. Those Falls would tear you up.
@@CastleHives He did it for years Brian. And home of Commander Donald Eiben. Part of the only UDT (SEALs now) team to capture a ChiCom general during the Korean war. Spent Christmas with him and his daughter Jennie was one of the Maple queens. A chilling story.
Thanks Bruce. We're getting tested up here. Now today we have freezing rain. Thursday and Friday in the 50's then dipping back down to the lower 40's and then freezing again. The roller coaster is off.
That wind storm hit me hard in CLE. Blew the top off my hive. Hopefully they will make it. Checked on them today and they are up top feeding on sugar brick1/25/24
Watching for a slightly warmer day for an OA treatment in Madison and Kingsville, Ohio. I need to check out one of those thermal imaging gadgets- Wonder how it will work with my insulated Layens hives. Which imager are you using there? Stay warm (and dry!)
The thermal cams do not give as clear of an image on insulated hives, you can't really see the thermal pocket. The model I use is the Topdon TC001, it is the android version. They do have an Apple model as well.
Just got a phone call from one of our club members. He got in his to check food after our cold we had. He lost one of his 4 colonies. Said it was still plenty heavy, so o would guess mites or just didn’t move to food. Sucks, just never know in Ohio. Yours are all looking good up there though. Keep up the videos, we will keep watching.
