Creating a water bottle survival kit is a great idea for EDC (Everyday Carry), camping, backpacking, or emergency preparedness. Here's a comprehensive list of items you might consider including:
1. **Water Bottle**: Choose a durable, BPA-free water bottle that can hold a sufficient amount of water for your needs.
2. **Water Purification Tablets**: These can be essential for purifying water from questionable sources. They're lightweight and easy to carry.
3. **Water Filter**: A compact water filter can help remove impurities and make water safe to drink.
4. **Collapsible Water Container**: Having an extra container to store water is useful, especially in emergency situations where water sources may be scarce.
5. **Emergency Blanket**: These lightweight, compact blankets can help retain body heat and provide shelter in emergency situations.
6. **Fire Starter**: A compact fire starter can be invaluable for warmth, cooking, and signaling for help.
7. **Multi-tool**: Choose a multi-tool with essential tools like a knife, scissors, screwdriver, and bottle opener.
8. **Emergency Whistle**: This can help attract attention in case of an emergency.
9. **LED Flashlight or Headlamp**: Essential for navigating in the dark or signaling for help.
10. **First Aid Kit**: Include basic medical supplies like bandages, antiseptic wipes, pain relievers, and any necessary prescription medications.
11. **Energy Bars or Snacks**: High-energy snacks can provide sustenance during emergencies or when you're on the go.
12. **Paracord**: Versatile and strong, paracord can be used for shelter building, repairs, or creating makeshift tools.
13. **Compass or GPS Device**: Essential for navigation, especially in unfamiliar terrain.
14. **Waterproof Matches or Lighter**: These can be crucial for starting fires in wet conditions.
15. **Duct Tape**: Useful for repairs, first aid, and improvisation in various situations.
16. **Emergency Poncho**: Lightweight and compact, an emergency poncho can provide protection from rain and wind.
17. **Sunscreen and Lip Balm**: Protect yourself from sunburn and dehydration.
18. **Small Notepad and Pen/Pencil**: Useful for leaving notes, jotting down important information, or keeping a journal.
19. **Map of the Area**: If you're in an unfamiliar location, having a map can be essential for navigation.
20. **Personal Identification and Emergency Contact Information**: Carry a copy of your ID and emergency contact information in case of an accident.
Remember to periodically check and replenish the items in your water bottle survival kit to ensure everything is up to date and in good condition. Additionally, customize your kit based on your specific needs and the environment you'll be in.

I think we all have enough odd bod pieces to make one of these great little kits. I added a foldable pocket backpack I bought many moons ago. This means I have my hands free when I need to use the water bottle contents.

That’s a great idea! Easy to throw it into a day pack as well. So light and just enough gear to get through if needed. I’d like to add an aluminum or titanium water bottle to be able to boil water in.. I really kind of like being able to see what is in actually in the kit. So I’m at a cross road there lol.

I think it’s fun to have all this gear. I should definitely carry more stuff in my backpack. Pretty much everything in my pack is camera equipment and a bottle of water. I just go for day trips and never overnight. On our Ricketts Glen hike we almost had to spend the night out there. We were way out when it became dark. If it wasn’t for AllTrails we would have slept in the woods. Seriously, it was the only way we made it out. I never thought about the pencil shavings as kindling- good idea. Nice survival kit over all. 👍

Oh my! That sounds like One of my adventures lol! Thanks for sharing that! Glad you made it out safely! This is a great set up for a day hikes. It’s ever evolving lol. Ricketts Glen is bucket list item for me this summer as well as Watkins Glen. And a few of the falls in Ithaca NY. I’ve shaved down a lot of my pack weight by just carrying essentials on day hikes. This little kit definitely comes in handy.

Good kit. I would add a mylar blanket, a thin 9 x 12 painters tarp, and a 1 Quart freezer bag. Leave out one of the pocket knives. You do have one in your pocket along with a Bic, chap stick, small light, 6 foot piece of paracord?? Replace some of the matches with stormproof matches and strike pad. Throw in a few water disinfectant tabs. Button compass, A few zip ties. If the water bottle was stainless single wall...... How much room is left in the container? Thanks for posting this. Looking forward to the next one!

Thank you for your feedback! I always appreciate well thought out feedback! Excellent suggestions! I have already added A few zip ties and a one quart bag to the kit. I like the ability to see into the kit which is why I stuck with the plastic. However, I agree with your line of thought. Both for durability and purification.. I believe I’ll be upgrading the container. Any suggestions on a stainless water bottle?

@@Imnotlostimexploring SS bottle is a personal choice. do you want a lid that is connected or not? Wide or narrow mouth? A Qt. or liter size is most common. I have both SS and see thru Nalgene for the reasons you mentioned. This line of thought is a great way to open up ideas from others and maybe get new ideas from them. Not to say my ideas are RIGHT, they are just my ideas about my concerns. Can you put the 10 most important concerns in life to you and do any overlap with mine? Looking forward to your next video!

I've always heard you can put the battery inside the flashlight, but reverse polarity. Reversed, it won't accidentally turn on, but also won't corrode.

Thank you! I’m going to give that a shot. Just takes up valuable room. I was thinking of just leaving that one in the carrier pocket.

Why a full size pencil? Are you going to write a book while you wait to be found?
@Imnotlostimexploring
@Imnotlostimexploring 8 дней назад
Actually the pencil serves a dual purpose. Kindling / shavings for fire starting.

@@Imnotlostimexploring you have two pencils. I just carry really good tinder. And plenty of it. No need to complicate things especially in bad weather or a survival situation

@@dirtyscoundrel2013 I agree. This ideally supplements my other gear that I would have on me. If I am out on a day hike chances are I’m not grabbing birch bark, or looking for fat wood. Not everyone knows to look for birch bark, or fat wood. Not everyone has the skill to start a fire with a ferro rod. So this was a simple way to show a way to make kindling. Ideally that would be a sharpener made from magnesium.. then a half a pencil would do.

@@Imnotlostimexploring I'll give your channel a look. You really don't need music. It's distracting and that was overbearing. I used to have two channels. Knife making and survival and I never used it. Looks like a nice kit though

@@dirtyscoundrel2013 I actually stopped using the editing software I was using because of this issue. Before the export it wasn’t nearly that loud. Not sure what the issue was. I’m only doing this about 6 months now. So o definitely have a lot to learn. Glad you’re sticking around.
