Candle Jet Water Feature Construction
Part 6/6 - Nozzles & Top Granite
With the frame levelled, and the pipework & LEDs connected (and tested), the last step remaining includes installing the nozzles and top granite profiles.
First, the top face of the frame is degreased with methylated spirits to prepare the surface for a self-adhesive neoprene layer.
The neoprene is supplied in a roll, so the strips need to be cut to length. When placing the neoprene strips down, the protective paper is peeled back slowly as you work your way down the box section. Making sure that the neoprene stays centred and parallel, with no tension in the strip. As this will cause the adhesive to come loose over time.
Leaving the neoprene exposed to weather conditions will also jeopardise the adhesive, so the nozzles and granite profiles need to be installed right after the neoprene.
The nozzles are screwed into threaded holes in the box section manifold, and adjusted to the right height - which is flush with the top face of the granite profiles.
Top granite profiles are then placed on top of the neoprene layer, centred on the nozzles. The profiles are fully removable to allow for easy access to the feature during maintenance.
Top granite level needs to be 5mm below the adjacent border stone, as this will avoid leaves and debris from bridging the return slot and causing water to spill outside the feature.
