Water tends to have a neutral pH so it would "water down" or weaken the acid at least a bit, but water really is the safest recommendation she could give. I guess if you truly want to clear all the acid and make sure it's gone, then a bit of baking soda in the water could help, but telling patients to use a basic substance to weaken the acid in their mouth could lead to misunderstandings and someone could end drinking bleach or soap.
@@ILoveYou-rv3pd then go ahead and eat all the snacks you want without water and see how that goes for you. Keeping yourself hydrated and not having a dry mouth or having enough saliva in your mouth really helps with oral hygiene. Water alone of course won't completely replace proper flossing and brushing your teeth after meals with fluoride toothpaste, avoiding junk food, access to dental healthcare, etc.
