Water Jet Cutting Machine cutting through Aluminum Metal Slab 3" inches thick, solid sheet of aluminum metal. The entire metal slab measured 4 x 10 feet in area and weighed over 1500 lbs. It was hoisted on to water-jet machine with forklift.

Actually it is not only water. A special sort of sand is mixed with the water for cutting purpose.

It’s also filled with abrasive. Imagine replacing the paper in sandpaper with water and that’s what this is. Very impressive but it’s the water moving the abrasive sand through the material. You can see the tube that feeds the nozzle the sand coming off the side of the nozzle.

What do they do with the contaminated water? Wouldn't a plasma cutter be safe for the environment? It would save the water and discharge of contaminated water.

The water isn't contaminated, it just has sand in it that eventually settles out. It can go right down the drain but it's normally used over and over.
