Hello everyone. not sure if this clicking and banging sound is copper pipe exapnsion issue or water hammer issue. Any suggestion as to what could be the issue here?
this is so helpful i've been hearing the same thing and at first thought i was hearing things lol, then i thought there was an animal living in my wall but it's definitely this!
@@dfleurius The problem got fixed by reducing water pressure by adjusting the nut on Water pressure regulator valve. Hope this helps you! No more sound from months now. This was not the copper pipes contraction or expansion issue. Just the high water pressure issue.
Maybe pipes are expanding. The pipes are bound in some places. Instead of expanding slowly they are expanding in bursts when the force becomes strong enough to over power the bound points. Sort of like how an earthquake works. The pipes need to be able to slide through the clamps and holes easily. Maybe
I'm having this exact issue and it sounds like a water hammer sound. I know you can install water hammer arrestor on yhe main incoming water line to house that will alleviate this issue. It's weird because my house never used to do it, and now all of a sudden it is. The arrestor should go just somewhere past the meter inside your house.
As far as I know, water hammer is when you turn de water off and it makes ONE loud sound, because the water "slams" into the pipe This is a ticking/knocking sound, which I'm guessing it's from excessive water pressure, or rapid pipe expansion from the hot water It was solved by reducing pressure, so it was "pipe knocking"
I fixed this problem by reducing water pressure. We had two water pressure regulators and the old one was high pressure and reduced it by turning the pressure nut and the sound is gone. Its been months now. Hope this helps you.
Please can u advise. Everytime we open water from upstairs bathroom directly downstairs in our kitchen we can hear a tik tik tik noise . Ive had one plumber out. He opened all my taps in the house slightly not fully flushed both my toilets and outside hoose pipe tap. He said the cause is airlock in the water copper pipes. Any idea what it could be as we still have the issue of the noise especially if we open the tap upstairs after a while. If we open the tap and close it and keep repeating constantly then no noise. Also by 2 water pipes are loose behind the sink aswell. No idea if this makes a difference to the issue or not as not clipped
