Mr. Weiss, you are a legend! The way you explain everything and the relaxing way of the video’s is something different. The level of quality is up there with the best! And you are amazing. Keep up the good work! One day i will own a Weiss.

You make a fair point. We often think of how deep a watch goes but most of us wont ever dive that far while many of us fly on a regular basis where the pressure is less. Never really thought about that.😅

I like that you chose to go with a numbered dial on your dive watch. Why do most watch makers design divers with lumed round indices and no hour markers? Is this part of the ISO standard or just preference? Great video, btw!

I’m glad to hear your feedback on the numerals. Almost all dive watches use round or rectangle indices and leave off the numerals for dive watches. I prefer numerals for the best unmistakable legibility so I went with that. There is no requirement for the type of hour markers or numerals on a dive watch, but I think numerals are the best.

Was the Teflon gasket also used for acrylic crystals?

Acrylic crystals will fit onto/into a watch differently than a sapphire or mineral glass crystal. For the Acrylic crystal the crystal itself will do the sealing(for most designs).

Thanks Cameron. Great episode. Will you have a further episode that discusses testing. You and others recommend testing at least annually for watches that you intend to take into the water. What kind of testing and what type of equipment is recommended. Despite living in a reasonably large urban setting there is no one here who offers any type of water resistance testing. The best we have is someone with an Elma Leak Controller and they have indicated it is only suitable for testing snap on case back watches with a resistance to 30m. I can’t send a dozen watches to an authorized service centre every year for 2-3 months per service.

A dry testing machine that could test most watches costs about $6000 USD. So if you have a collection that is valuable enough and used in or around water regularly, it might be good to simply purchase your own machine (Witschi Proofmaster). At Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin I would perform dry tests for clients in the boutiques as a courtesy, but not all stores have the right staff or tools to do this.
