Thanks Jim. Stay well. Love our water softener in Iowa. If you don't believe me, ask a farmer. Thumbs up.

Jim I was about to buy a water softener system over 25 years ago thank the Creator I didn't! I researched and found a company (Carefree) out of Australia that had a distributor in Arkansas. I was skeptical about there product but purchased it and have never looked back. Same gas hot water heater, washing machine, etc for 25 years. You just plumb it inline right after the water well main line before the pressure tank add a ground wire and run a wire for the match box size photo cell outside that's it. It's best explained a scrubber it separates the hard water molecules from the water so there still present but they won't attach to your pipes etc. Best $700 I have ever spent and this was 26 years ago when that was alot of money! Now my wife has heart conditions so I don't have to worry about the extra sodium in the water a plus plus! 👍💯 Just thought I would share! Have a blessed day!

We had and will be getting in our new home a Kinetico water filtration system. It makes all other water filter/softener products on the market look like amateurs. The Kinetico system does not require electricity so when your power goes out you still have running water. As long as you are not on a pump. As for salt, it uses a fraction of any other system on the market. I use, maybe, 3 - 4 bags A YEAR! vs. at least that much per month with other systems. And no, I didn't buy it because Mike Holmes endorses it. That endorsement was very recent. We had our system for 5 years in our old house and after a few adjustments never had one problem with it. It just worked and gave us clean water. No chemicals, chlorine, pharmaceuticals, or foul smells to deal with. Your appliances and skin will love you, and for those that do, your hair coloring will last longer too.

WeI live in Calgary Alberta and our water hardness level is about 11.6. Would we benefit from a water softener.

Lynn, the rule of thumb is anything over 13 grains hard, a water softener is recommended. However, if it was my house, I would have a softener because 0 hardness is so nice.
