Where you messed up is you used galvanized connected directly to stainless steel it causes accelerated corrosion. You're not supposed to use dissimilar metals the solution would have been if you would have used schedule 80 PVC nipples that would solve your problem and would be cheap or to use brass nipples which would be more and then it'll never happen again.
