Here's how I conceptualize using AutoCAD the water spray nozzle arrangement for vertical vessels.
Step 1: Find the surface area of the protected equipment
Step 2. Select an ideal spray pattern (i.e 90deg, 120 deg, 140deg)
Step 3. Arrange the spray nozzle such that the spray pattern will meet or overlap.
Step 4. Identify how many levels or rings of spray nozzles are required considering the allowable 3.7m maximum rundown per NFPA 15.
Step 5. Find the required spray nozzle k-factor.
Not covered in this part 1 are the following steps:
Step 6. Determine the suitable pipe size.
Step 7. Perform hydraulic calculation of the fixed water spray system to determine the required supply pressure and flow rate at the deluge valve.
Step 8. Prepare the hydraulic calculation report.

Water is sprayed through the nozzle on the moving blade on the train, the air speed is 15 m/s, the nozzle area is 0.05 m2 and the angle of curvature of the blade is 50o. calculate the mass M needed to keep the train at rest

Thanks..I can calculate..I use pipenet for more than 10 yrs.. However, Pipenet is licenced to the Company I'm working..I can't use it for other purpose.
