That is a great test kit. here in toledo we had water issues a few years with algae blooms, I was wondering if they had a test for that? as always great job.

To eliminate the chlorine it should be sufficient to let the water rest for some time in an open pitcher with a large neck, so that it can evaporate.

Eventually. But since transdermal absorption is a factor as well as breathing in the chlorinated vapors in the shower, I prefer to use a whole house filter.

Would be cool to check the water at school, when drink it it hurts my throat XD btw is there any backpackable small water filter that you can use to quickly filter water, like so i could use it on the school tap or so not having to carry too much weight. I know you have reviewed a dozen but im not sure what design/type i should be looking at

Yeah but your issue is probably chlorine which gets dissolved into the water so a filter probably wouldn't do much ...

Do they do free local water testing?? Think we are allowed to drop off samples for free here in Ontario. Do it each spring for our well water. Interesting though.

Hard to test for and even harder to remove flouride. But I think it should be ILLEGAL to add flouride to public water supplies.

I am not sure there is a "filter" for hard water. That usually requires a "softener" to have a real effect. I like Aquasana products.

Actually, some filter do remove chlorine. My whole house filter does. It is easy to confirm with a simple test strip. Fluoride, in the other hand, is much harder to remove.

Survival On Purpose you are so right about that. You have to put a big reverse osmosis system before water enters the house. It's not easy and sure isn't cheap. Thanks for a great video.

There are actually non-reverse osmosis filters that will remove flouride but they are not cheap. The problem with RO is it wasted a LOT of water. Usually around 5 gallons wasted for every gallon used.

Why do you ask that? Don't you think this is relevant to being prepared? Maybe it's because I'm a plumber, but I absolutely think so. I actually think it would be a good idea to have one or two of these in an emergency kit so you could test your water after a disaster (or whatever).

The situation in flint , mi was caused by the pipes and corrosive properties of ground water run off into the river. The water department said it was clean at the plant. My folks live really close to flint. Mom told me this has been going on awhile but it became a big deal when it got to be an election year. I love democracy but dang I hate politics. My folks have well water though. It's so hard it turns everything red. But it hasn't killed any of us yet, wrecked some white clothes, you bet.

Don't Do This unless you can afford the 30.00 US dollars (shipping is extra) they are asking for this product and you Really want to spend 30 bucks on this - All Home Depot's Give Away for Free home water testing kits. Yes, you have to send it off but for the price of a small postage you can have your water tested if you cannot afford the 30 dollar product. I'd go with Home Depot unless you just like wasting money.
