I did my water training with SPC Skyknights Milwaukee. With full gear on, it can be a bit of a challenge. But I'm glad to be able to swim free. Life saving equipment can also kill you. Everything has a context around it :)
My first and only water jump was into the Colorado River, in March; winds were 30MPH; I jumped out at 3K over California desert; and was whisked to the river in nothing flat; then just hovered as I spun my way down to landing; all gear loose, but I wanted to pop the life vest; two drunk guys in a boat, with a very scantily clad young lady picked me up and took me to shore for dry out, and repack before heading back to Perris Valley Paracenter.
