I don’t think people realize how big this is going to be. We can only go so fast on an ESK8 however most trucks nowadays can’t even come close to what the Waterborne surf adapter can do. The carving/turn radius is insane! Also, of all the surf skate systems Waterborne is the most stable at speed. Basically you can have your cake and eat it too. I see electric surfskate specific decks in the future.

Totally agree. Looking forward to the one board that can do it all with a 2 minute adjustment. Patrick is a really a genuine guy. Good luck to him. It will be great to see all his hard work pay off.

@@poncho1567 You guys are too kind! For us, the product is never good enough, and there are always improvements to be made. We are working on some tech that will bring esk8 onto the new DREAM platform for its superior stability, and robustness. We've been super stoked on the esk8 community, and see it as a huge part of our future. We hope to offer something thrilling and fun to a frankly stale surfskate scene, and something fresh to the already red hot esk8 racing scene. Stay posted!

Genuine question: how is it more stable at speed if the original trucks are still installed underneath the surf adapter?
@WATERBORNESKATEBOARDS
@WATERBORNESKATEBOARDS 7 месяцев назад
@@onespeed3134 Caster effect: Caster causes a wheel to align with the direction of travel, and can be accomplished either by caster displacement or caster angle. Caster displacement moves the steering axis ahead of the axis of wheel rotation, as with the front wheels of a shopping cart. Caster angle moves the steering axis from vertical.

Patrick, Last Wednesday I bought a six month old Meepo Flow from an old guy my age who lives near Houston (an hour and fifteen from my house near Austin). He made some changes to the stock Flow. He bought a longer 38.5 inch deck made by Kebbek that is shaped just like the Flow deck. He also already put a Waterborne Surf Adapter and Waterborne Extender Rail Adapter on it! For some odd reason he changed the front double kingpin truck to an awfully narrow 150mm reverse kingpin truck which was very wonky feeling. I think he sold it because it felt dangerous set up that way. Yesterday I replaced the narrow 150mm front with an M Boards reverse kingpin truck that is the same hanger width as the stock Meepo double kingpin truck. Now the surf adapter feels great. The wheels are the Meepo 105MM/72A urethane so it's pretty plush and nice and grippy. This was the exact setup that I was going to build and all I had to do was change the front truck! Very Happy.

I just did this same process over a number of days across a couple of weeks… you gotta take breaks and be persistent if you don’t have a nice power drill 😂 i would have severely benefitted from this video ! you covered it all man! i finally ended up in the same place with the mega pump setting. the super carve setting was niice but needed the extender, and on an exway flex the front brackets are so close to the nose so the extender hangs off a bit and adds more wheelbase and thus board flex 👎🏻! i prefer mega pump… i feel like I don’t loose as much turning radius coming from super carve as it provides the clearance to ditch the extender bracket which shortens the wheelbase 👍🏻)…. i also had to krank the rail adapter bushing down and even throw one of your bamboo risers btw the truck and the rail adapter 😂 to avoid this new thing we encountered called “motorbite”. going to order riptide bushings asap so i can try to get as buttery a feel on my SKP trucks as possible. also getting a harder square surf-truck bushing bc wheel bite is still a faint possibility… gotta do what you gotta do 🤙🏻

Thank you! yea that was really fun for us too! Just wanted people to see that it's not always a one and done when you et up an eBoard. The board actually does ride great too. I brought it to an electric skateboard racing event and it was a hit for the way it handled hairpin turns.

Gotta try the Major Arc truck on front, it pairs really well with the adapter and has super low profile with a high turn to lean ratio

Great video - Thanks. Looking at doing this to my Onirique. I'm sure this saved me hours of wrenching. For the life of me, I can't figure out why a bigger e-skate company hasn't made a purpose-built electric surfskate (aside from the jetboard) - just look at the Stoke; it's clearly a surfboard.

Glad this was helpful! These build videos have been so fun to make. Hoping to do many more! Honestly there’s a big preconception that surf trucks are sketchy at speed (and literally most are!) but our Surf Adapter has some key design differences, and the Rail Adapter is critical to stability. At a recent event we won a lot of people and brand owners over.

For what it’s worth, I put the dream truck on my Onirique (new stoke) with the stock 85mm Orangutang’s. I left the riser pad and don’t get any wheel bite, even on super carve mode. Looks a bit goofy with the 13in wide truck in the back and narrower one up front, but seems to ride well. Probably an enhanced ride with the fin, but I’ll take the 10% effort for 90% return.

Did you put an extender on the rear trucks as well? This board looks really similar to the Meepo Flow so I guess it will work similarly on it.

With just the front adapter is the sweet spot
@sageoz9886
@sageoz9886 Год назад
Depends on your riding style. I like more rear end grip, and the rails help the rear end to lean and keep up with front, so the outside back wheel doesn’t lift so easily. I like it with extensions on both ends, and my rear trucks flipped around for high speed stability.

@@WATERBORNESKATEBOARDS true, his vid is very good but it’s from a surf-skate perspective and is kinda missing describing the benefits the set-up has for electric boards which usually are cruising and cornering at higher speeds. This is where reversed trucks really make the difference

Do you keep the original riser pads on when you install the adapter?
@WATERBORNESKATEBOARDS
@WATERBORNESKATEBOARDS 9 месяцев назад
it depends on the board. Some boards have curved decks, and custom risers to give you a flat mounting surface. If the deck is already flat then I don't use a riser.

Patrick, for these cruiser sized esk8's (Stoke, Flow, Stinger) do you think reverse kingpin trucks would be a better fit for Waterborne surf and rail adapters to be added? Or maybe better off putting the E Board Surf Conversion Kit on a Meepo Mini 5 or Tynee Mini to give them a little longer wheelbase length and have the benefit of not having to deal with double kingpin truck issues? I want a Tynee Stinger with reverse kingpin trucks and the Waterborne adapters, I think it would make a great Esurfsk8.
@WATERBORNESKATEBOARDS
@WATERBORNESKATEBOARDS 4 месяца назад
Reverse kingpin trucks on the front axle, or a DREAM Surf Truck makes for the best stability. The Stoke, flow, and stinger can all follow this build formula. The first iteration is spectacular fun under 18mph.

Chose your own board deck that will let you mimic your real surfboard stance width... i use a 36 to 40 in Kebbek deck..kick tail. Move the parts from a Stoke or Flow to your own board. Get a reverse kingpjn for the front and trash that 13 inch wide(lol) front dual kingpin truck....go with a 8 or 9 inch wide. Then reduce the front wheel size to 80 or 90mm. No wheelbite issue at all with reduced front wheelsize. Use risers as needed to adjust deck level to taste. ...save the old fronts for the spare rear. Use soft durometer fronts. You could use harder/smaller kegel wheels in rear if you want some slide.... this setup will run circles around stock Stoke and lean, carve and is super stable. You can thank me later. Enjoy.

solid recommendations! We also came out with a ned FIN System accessory called the Limiter, which prevents front end wheelbite.

Can you just use the front adapter????
@sageoz9886
@sageoz9886 3 месяца назад
Yes but the rear really allows the lean needed to really get the turning ability, plus the rear end stays more planted with better grip. Without it you’ll find that the rear outside wheel lifts in hard turns reducing grip. Definitely recommend the complete system front and rear together
@scotthaggar
@scotthaggar 3 месяца назад
Yes. I had a front-only setup with the Revel kit and it worked fine. I had the rear truck super tight to avoid wheel bite. It does make it slightly less surfy, but given the weight and speed of an electric, the added stability in the back was net-positive, in my opinion. Technically, I think the grip comment is accurate, but leaning hard enough at speed to reduce the grip would be a feat, and at low speeds, it's less of an issue.
@sageoz9886
@sageoz9886 3 месяца назад
@@scotthaggar yeah I’ve used it with just the front but it’s not nearly as enjoyable. The stability is easy to get by REVERSING the back truck.
