She took the role because her niece was a fan of Adam Sandler. I do agree she did have some ridiculous moments in the movie but it shows the strength of her skills as a actress.
LOL interestingly enough, it was filmed in Central Florida like Polk County (where I'm from), Clermont and other surrounding areas. The true Florida folks here are not too far from the Cajun folks... haha! (looking forward to gator hunting this year)
@@soundcheck2k7 Me too sir. Nothing like going on on the lugger with the boys, drinking some beers, getting naked and oiling each other up, and hunting gators. Fun times when we out early morning without the wives.
@@tomcallaghan4616And not to mention, she’s been holding him back on his manhood for years. My mother did the same too when I graduated from high school. She would have a problem with me opening my own bank account when I got my 1st job. As a parent, it is your duty to prepare your child for his/her adulthood after high school, not hold them back like the way momma Boucher did with his son Bobby.
I seriously had no idea what that meant until recently, living in the north my whole life. Thought it was just mama being her over the top self until met a tourist from Alabama.
I know her calling everything outside herself "the Devil" is played for laughs, and it is funny, but it's also sad as she is doing this as a way of coping with the fact her husband ran out on her, and the fear of her son potentially doing the same.
Kind of feel sad for her. A lot of moms do that with their sons when their husband runs out on them. It's a sense of insecurity that is completely valid because no man should run out on their wife and son. But then again she should have embraced her son and let him grow.
Gotta admit. The lines are kinda stupid but the actors delivering these lines make em gold and thus waterboy became a great comedy movie. Just look at farmer fran for example.
My mom was the same way. Everything was the devil to her. Anything different or outside her control was "evil". She stopped when she saw how much it pushed us away
My mother was similar to her when I graduated high school. She tried to hold me back from being a man and one example of that was when she didn’t want me to open my own bank acct when I got my 1st job. She would get real upset if I did cuz it made her feel that I was hiding something from her. But you know what? Sometimes we need to stand our ground against our parents and let them know that we’re not babies anymore. We’re grown adults.
I had trouble watching this move the first time. It reminded me of my own conflicts with my mother. being made fun of for having a speech impediment also strikes home for me too.
Had she had screamed out in pain with “oh Bobby”! I would have had just lost it ..how this movie didn’t win an academy award is beyond me it’s right up there with pulp fiction and girl interrupted
He said "alligators are ornery because of their medulla oblongata," which is a part of the brain (at the base.) He got embarrassed in his college class because he answered a question about alligators being aggressive because his mother old him it was because they were "ornery because the have all them teeth and no toothbrush," & the professor/class told him the theory was due to an enlarged medulla oblongata.
That doesn't stop me from liking it. Beaides, I would think the Devil would try to WITHHOLD information, like history, instead of showing me just the glorified parts of the world's past.
"She showed me her boobies and I like them too" that was the best part when he came back in and said that! 🤣🤣🤣 The Waterboy is definitely one of Adam's top 3 movies he ever made!
