Look what we did to ourselves. How complicated and unnecessarily fast we’ve made our lives. Slow down and watch some old videos of the way things use to be. Tonight before you go to bed add to your prayers a thank you to God for when you turn that right faucet on...warm water comes out.

At around 2:55 minutes into this film, on the left you can see the 3 story house my great-grandfather had built. There were stores on the first floor and two apartments above. My great-grandparents lived on the second floor and my grandparents on the third. They were the Dadarios and the Pintos. I am Diane Botelho Ranft.

This video brings back many memories of Waterbury and Waterville, CT. The Naugatuck River runs right through this area along Thomaston Avenue and Rout 8 South. I actually worked at Chase Brass & Copper before it closed in the early 1980's when they converted the plant into Chase Nuclear Division where they produced vanadium cooling rods for nuclear reactors all over the country.

The history of this city (I live in Bunker Hill.. heavy set guy with a ponytail you may see smoking cigs occasionally ;P ) most interesting is between 1657 and 1720 or so. The name was not changed from Mattatock to what we call it now, until a decree by a court in 1658, in May actually.. it said something like a highway shall be built from the plantation of Mattatock to New Haven (colony I presume), and then just kind of casually threw in 'which will be referred to from now on as Watterbury' , and yes it was spelled originally in that court transcript with two 't''s :)

Did she say Scoville factory on Thomaston Ave? I thought the Scoville Factory was the huge factory they knocked down and it was on Union St?
