Rather than using watercolor, I have used drawing ink (specifically Windsor & Newton), and have fund the color remains stable (I have used 2-3 colors applied loosely) - unlike the results from using watercolor. Furthermore, Golden brand Self Leveling Acrylic Gel Medium provides much more control, and far less sloppy than the Liquitex pouring medium suggested in this video. As for Blick Art Supplies - they have EVERYTHING, and the prices and service are exceptional!
Clever way to make use of egg shells! Can this technique be used on a 4x4 tile and then used to make a unique backplash for either kitchen or bathroom???
+Morgan Chisholm You can work while the glue is still wet which is usually best when first applying the shells. If you find that some of the shell didn’t stick or you have a bare spot, wait for the glue to dry and then come back in and add more shell to that area. You will need to let the glue dry completely before adding the watercolor though. If you have additional questions, you can reach Blick Product Information at 1-800-933-2542 or info@dickblick.com. +Ferdous Salim Yes, you can use this technique on a ceramic plate, but it will then not be food safe. The embellished plate could only be used for decoration or would need to have a barrier put down between the food and the plate - such a napkin or doily.
