Such a pretty painting...the light really sparkles! So interesting to see how the deep dark colors make the light shine! Am lovin' this limited palette!
Well, I f el like the Little Train That Could . . . I CAN paint this, I CAN paint this. 😆 and I’m excited to paint it. 😊 Thank you, Kolbie. This is going to be great.
Hi Kolbie, I just finished day 8! 2 more to go! I just wanted say that I have really enjoyed the challenges and your teaching style. Thanks you so much!
I am a beginner and was very intrigued when I saw watercolour scenes with light showing thru the trees. Thank you for showing how to add depth and light in a scene. Will definately give it a try.
Kolbie, thank you for breaking this down. When I first saw it, I was VERY intimidated but you have given me a bit of inspiration to go ahead and try it! THANK YOU!
Congratulations! You’ve won a copy of one of my books! To claim your prize, please send an email to kolbie@thiswritingdesk.com with your name and mailing address! :)
Thank you for this course. I particularly enjoyed this painting and the clever way you achieved the light areas amongst the dark. Can’t wait for the next course now!
Loved this one! This is my favorite so far!! Really really great! I am learning more about my style of painting and I am more impressionistic I think so this was PERFECT for me!! Thank you, Kolbie!
Wow--that's stunning. Seemed scary at first, but the step-by-step instructions and your talking through the thought process makes me want to try it. "If in doubt, paint zig-zags" is such helpful advice.
This was one of my favorites! I really liked the colors and learning how to do the water with reflections of the trees. One of the best things I have learned is to pause, step away and do lots of layers. Thanks You!
I am repeat-watching this over and over, it looks so easy but turns out so detailed. A bit scared to attempt mine but soon I will! Yours is… breathtaking. 😍
I am so grateful for your work, Kolbie! A couple of years ago, my teenage son and daughter and I tried our hand at art tutorials. My daughter was often frustrated with the results. When I saw your tutorial and said I wanted to try it, the kids wished me luck and told me that it I was probably wasting my time because it wasn't going to come out anywhere near that cool. At the end of 35 minutes, we were all blown away by what I had created. You made it so accessible, and I felt so accomplished. I used what I learned to teach my older daughter when she came home from college, and now she is practicing all the time, using it as a meditative break from school work, and hosting paint nights for friends at her apartment. Two of her friends asked for watercolor supplies for Christmas! We have family paint nights too. I love seeing how our individual personalities show through, even as we all follow the same tutorial. You have absolutely inspired us all to use to knowledge we have gained to to experiment and be creative regularly. I've lost track of how many people I have shared your work with because of the impact it has had on us. You are making a beautiful difference in the world!
I've been working on this one for a few days. I love the colors, but you're right about it looking like a hot mess... until it doesn't! I've definitely been stretched these past 10 days and I love it!!
I'm behind schedule, secretly very happy that I can still make this one. I'm bummed I don't have time right now and have to wait to get started... you're amazing!
Always learning in art..I'm new to watercolor painting & each time I watch your challenges; I try to apply that one thing that hit me..ahh so that's how or why. Thanks so much for sharing your talent.
This, I think, is my favorite out of the 10 challenges. I haven't really mastered it in my first try but I'm excited to give it another go ^o^ You're so calm in your instructions, and so detailed, it makes it more relaxing than any other tutorials I've tried! I also really love your emails - they're also very calming and supportive. Thank you for all you're doing!
Your turned out so pretty - mine not so much. I am going to let is sit for a while and then look at it again. Thank you for teaching and for showing us the right way to do things and then going with the "flow".
I hope I remember what I learned in this painting. It’s the prettiest I’ve done so far. I would not have managed the layers and depth with your guidance. My “mess” turned out nice. I struggle to keep light areas light though, so I worked with that in mind.
This project scared me! I really thought there was no way I could pull it off. But thank you for all your kind encouragement - you gave me the confidence to keep going, one step at a time. And I am so proud of the final result. It might be the best thing I've ever painted! I'm still 2 days behind, but hoping to get at least one more done this weekend.
