I love all the bits of very important tips you provided. Like reflections are the opposite in light, water levels itself, ripples become larger as they get away from the bank and the ground is darker at the edge of the water. I took watercolor lessons for a year and theses things were never taught. Thank you!

Oh how wonderful! I only just found you on RU-vid. I did (and still do) a lot of silk painting (Scarves as well as Wall Art) and watercolour is so similar in the techniques. But somehow I never found the way to use it on paper (I did a lot of wall art in dry pastel and charcoal) ... But now seems to be the time. Thank you so much for your oh so inspiring videos. Your way of painting as well as your way of teaching and suggesting watercolour art is amazing. To be followed ...

Hi Jean, Lovely straight forward easy to follow style for a beginner...I knew the moment I heard your voice that you were from either Northern or Southern Rhodesia, wish that I had heard about you when I lived in Sunnyvale, CA , often came through to San Fransisco I knew someone who lived in Marin , one of my favourite places to visit was Sausalito

I'm doing an art class painting project.. Specifically it is called Monochromatic. Wow! This video really helps me as I'm trying to paint a landscape but struggle with water reflections :) I decided to use blue and hope for the best here 😅 (I'm 12)

Great lesson, Jean. I have been painting watercolour for around 3 years now and am just learning to master water reflection. Your style of painting is very much like mine! I love the fall colours as well and quinacridone gold is my favourite colour, it goes so well against dioxazine violet. I also love W & N Green Gold and Olive Gold, perfect for shrubbery and trees. Thank you Jean! Your tips are very informative and I particularly like your tips for loosening up the strokes, which is a very important skill for beginners. I was just wondering, I use Derwent Artbar and not liquid watercolours. Do you think I could get the same effect nonetheless?

I have never used that product for loosening up exercises. The beauty of using watercolor paints is that they flow so easily on the paper.
