I think I prefer squeezing paint from tubes into an empty folding palette. I feel like it's the most economical and customizable option. Pans are tempting though cause they are so cute looking.

Thank you! I'm pretty clueless about watercolors. I paint in mixed media but have been slowly trying watercolors. Saw your video on adding WC to empty pans. One of those ah ha's ...never thought about that! So appreciate your simplicity in explaining how to do this. Looking forward to catching up and learning more about WC.

Actually, if you fill pans with tube paints , that is cheaper in the long run compared to filled pans. Cotman is cheaper because that has less pigment in it, you can't get as strong colour.

Super cool! I started with the cotman half pans but I think I'm going to buy a tube since the set I have doesn't have a purple and while I can mix one, I use purple often enough that it would be nice to have a proper one. It can take the place of the white I don't understand how to use, haha.

lol...thanks for letting us know its not live. great vid. I started with half pans, I like them...its great for beginners, plus a good investment if you dont know if you like the medium. Now that I know I like it, I have invested in a small tin, and have the Daniel Smith essentials on order. I still like using very small pallets, and I like being portable.

The Evolving Vegan haha Yea me too, I really love using my Schmincke travel box, and having tubes to fill pans to put inside the box. I really like being able to grab the small box and go outside to work

a full pan squeezed with tube watercolors may be the best of both worlds, since you don't really ruin your brushes less, and easy to pick off paint compared to bought pans, except for Schmincke and Sennelier(for my case but shouldn't be)

Leodoz agreed, I do find that tubes tend to dry more wet, which I think is less of a headache when actually painting. Thanks for the comment!

@@chrisgnatural7224 Thanks for this video, and the one about filling a pan. I do want to do that to save money (going to buy Daniel Smiths

@@suhelavaneerten419 Sorry, I meant that its not as solid as a pre filled pan of watercolor. Even when its dry most colors if filled with tube paint will come out of the pan easier when you use your brush. Less rubbing to get the paint off

Thank you for your thoughts, I'm new to watercolors and trying figure out my first hand picked pallet.

Didedi's Crafty Corner I would definitely recommend going with tubes and filling your own set of whatever colors you choose. The pre-made sets might have some colors in it that you may not want. Hope everything works out for you!

I prefer putting tube paints into full pans. I tend to baby my brushes and prefer getting paint on my brush at an angle, so the extra surface area is nice

Great Video I've Subed. I Love My Schmincke Horadam Pans & Tubes & I Love My Daniel Smith Tubes. I like both Pans & Tubes I guess it just depends on what you are doing or painting at the time. I also own & Love these Sets: Schmincke Horadam Watercolour Pans & Tubes. Daniel Smith Tubes. Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolours. St Petersburg White Night Watercolours. Winsor & Newton Cotman Watercolours. Winsor & Newton Professional Large Pan In Giant Ceramic Pan Watercolour Paints. Daler Rowney Aquafine Watercolour Paints. I use a Mijello Fusion 18 Watercolour Palette with them as well plus various Brushes but I do really like Pro Arte Watercolour Brushes. Have you tried any of these? Thank you for the Helpful Video & Keep up the great work. Nick.
