Seeing this, I realize how much knowledge of light, shapes, shading textures and shadows watercolor requires of the artist. It's as if you have deconstructed the image in your mind and built it from the bottom up. Very masterful, thank you so much!
Good looks tend to fade out but the mind never does, it only grows. That's why good portrait art at all times needs to capture the soul of the subject. I believe this portrait of an old man is a very good illustration of that. The face is the mirror of the mind. It's often in the eyes, the eyes of people reflect the desires of their heart. And this man has a lot of 'Joi de vivre' left if you look in his eyes. Those eyes say more then words can.
Amazing skill. When I was young, I used to paint with watercolor but my subjects were mainly animals and landscape. I found it hard to control the strokes and my main challenge was I didn't know how to mix and blend colors. Watching this makes me want to restart my old hobby again. This is very inspirational and thank you for demonstrating your work.
such amazing work, I have learned A LOT. One suggestion/request though; as a left handed painter, your light source needs to come from the right so the area you are painting is not in shadow.
working from light to dark light washes building as you go very basic technique for water colors or even oil. never going too dark. well done. basic block in very light and conservative, keep it light, very compressed palette as well. Bravo.
So much control and patience...the best on the spot painting showing the palette and color mixing. Love it! I want to be be like this good someday. thnk u
Same with me. My medium is Charcoal and Soft pastel Painting. Someone asked me to paint a portrait in watercolor, and I am currently having a hard time. I messed up and now I am watching tutorial for a lot of time now.. I will make again and start all over again
The light and shadow are so amazing and details in it. I’m having a hard time with watercolor now, i messed up my portrait and currently watching your tutorial. I am learning a lot from you. My medium is Charcoal and Soft Pastels-
I like that the fact that artists tends to use so many varieties of colors at the beginning of the painting and not use black or white that much. AND THIS IS ONE OF THESE ARTISTS I SUBSCRIBEDDD!! I LOVE YURR ART UWU💖💖😊
Thank you so much for this very enlightening demonstration... On the other hand it is necessary to tune the piano, it has several false notes that skin the ears !...
I need to do some color mixing courses, your knowledge of what to mix and where to use specifics colors is sweet. I'm still at the point where mixing one skin tone for the face is daunting, much less mixing different tones on the fly for different areas of the face, ahhh lol
Nice work indeed. And thanks for including your palette in-screen...it was really useful to see the mixing, and I'm amazed at how little water you actually use. Inspiring stuff.
