I found the best effect was from waiting until the wash had lost its sheen then apply salt. Best paints for this is granulating blues and greens in my experience.

Hi. I have a few questions. I tried this, but when I applied the salt, it didn't seem to bleach the pigment like yours does. It just went slightly blotchy. I have 300gm paper. Is the brand of paint important? Did I not wet it enough? Did I apply too many layers? I let it dry once then added a second wet layer before adding the salt. The only thing I didn't do was use a hair dryer because I don't have one. Is that a key step? Other than that, I followed what I saw, and as I said, it just went a bit blotchy.

Yes, the brand of watercolor paint is important, some can do and some cannot. Once you paint the background, don't let it dry and then make it wet again. You need to catch the good timing. And it is not necessary to use hair dryer. Thank you for your watching. 🌸💜
