That was very useful, thanks a lot! Finally somebody shows how to make the initial sketch with a good explanation. It is recognizable that you are actually a teacher who is used to do such things! Most of the painting and coloured pencil tutorials I found so far are like "I show you how to paint this, here is the sketch I made off camera, let's go in with the first colour". That doesn't teach me much. But after your videos I always have a feeling that I actually learned something even I if I didn't draw along. I started to watch you for your watercolour pencil tutorials and stayed for the other stuff because of this learning experience.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful video full of great information. This video really helped me figure out how to do the blending of my sunflower painting.
I just love your videos! They are so informative in so many ways. Better in many ways than other watercolor classes I’ve taken. I have also learned so much about color theory. Thank you!!
Definitely the pencil marks are almost impossible to get out once the yellow paint goes over them. I've been using Daniel Smith's Hansa Yellow Dark and I find that when dry, the colour is darker than when it was wet.
Thank you for this lovely sunflower Michele. It was good to see you showing your palette and the paint to water ratio which is something I always struggle with. Also the flower drawing was very helpful.
Maybe, I'm going to use two brushes saving one for plain water. Also I've seen watercolor painters use a sponge to dab their brush on. Thanks so much for your tutorials
Greatly appreciated your video on sketching out sunflowers Michele, it's shows me how to prepare so achieving a good shape flower.Enjoyed the video as always, thanks appreciated stay safe
Love this video, especially your drawing tutorial. So many things to learn here! This comment is “cat approved”, as my 3 were surrounding me as I watched. 😻
Hi Michele ,another great video of yours, I grew a lot of nice sunflower last year but could not find a way of painting pictures of them , your video has given me , good advise on how to tackle the subject,on the subject of watercolour paints , is your floral set available off your website or directly from Jack man's ,thanks for your video ,keep safe xx
Love this tutorial, Michele! Thank you so much. Can I use Payne's Grey for the shadow color? Will it need a touch of another color? Can't wait for your watercolor pencil course on flowers!! Thanks!!
I don't recommend Payne's Grey as it has black pigments in and layered over yellow may go a muddy green, it's rather heavy for flowers. You can use a soft lilac or purple, or can make a softer grey by taking a blue and adding tiny amounts of yellow and rose until you get the right colour.
