I get lots of questions from beginners, and most of them are along the lines of "what am I doing wrong?" I thought I'd make a series of videos that might help. I thought of 15 problems beginners encounter when they paint with watercolor, and here are 6 through 10! Most of these problems are more like bad habits and are easy to correct, except for the ones that require you to be patient. I can't really help you with that one. Stay tuned the final video in this series.
Here's part one in case you missed it.

All depends if it flows the way you intend. If it's not the effect you're trying to achieve, it's frustrating. Are you creating something planned ....or just playing with paint?

Scatilynne i think if you put too much water on the paper it will inevitably wrinkle and tear so i think its better not to put more water than you need to

Antonella Cortés that's if u don't have proper water colour paper I did that and it worked fine it might just be the paper ur using so u have to be careful of that

Summary: 1) Overworking 2) No pre-mixing, 2:08 (When doing wet into wet, mix color on palette before wetting the paper) 3) Streaky flat washes 2:57 4) No drying time 3:47 (You are working too fast when painting fine detail) 5) Backruns 5:00 (Avoid putting wet paint next to damp paint)

Backruns happens with more than just watercolors. I use alcohol-based markers and when I first started out, this was a harsh lesson to learn, haha. Another great video, thank you!

+Ella Mozzarella It helps a LOT to have a spare sheet of paper and just play around. I never did this starting out, I would always just jump in and start coloring artworks, and that ended up causing a lot of issues and ruined a lot of pieces xD Have some patience and just experiment. See what works, what doesn't, etc. Good luck with them! I hope you enjoy them :)

Good watercolour paper is very expensive...especially when you're ruining every sheet! My art teacher would have me practice everything on Arches with Windsor & Newtons! Getting the strokes going first!

Kelly, your videos are a really great job. I'm just a beginner in watercolor (less than one year), and I have a very good professor. But I believe students can not always depend on their professors, so I sometimes watch videos on youtube as part of my own research. And I have to say, this tips you gave on your videos were the best of all I ever saw on youtube. Because of one simple thing: you did not say how to do, but you do say (and show) how to NOT TO DO. And it is so simple and clarifying. Thank you! And I am really sorry about my english, but I had to thank you.
