Watercolour tutorial - Painting the Sea and Sky - with Alek Krylow 

My friends response to a person who remarked that using gouache is "cheating" was , "Well, then, if you don't make your own watercolor paper, thats cheating too!"

as i painted with you i said to myself, “ these colors won’t work, there’re not right “ i said this isn’t going to come out right! but i followed along and oh my!!!! i can’t believe it, my first seascape & not bad! i’m pushing 70 and i just started watercolor 4 yrs ago, no lessons!!! ty!!!

I love how you show us how you mix colors, how you dilute, how you add the water to the paint. So many artist just show us their actual painting, but that only teaches us half the process. As a new beginner, I love your style and find it extremely helpful as I learn this form of painting. Thank you.

I love your tutorial on how to paint the sea and sky, and told us first to look at perspective using colors and size of waves and aerial colors are weaker to the horizon. I liked the use of white gouache , which I was initially taught not to use . It certainly helps with waves foam. I also liked the use of dry brush over the beach and letting white paper showing through . I will be buying your book as you can send by email. So much better in saving money on international postage ! Thank you Alek , so happy I found your video, and love the music and sounds of the sea and Birds!!

Alek, that is a beautiful sight. Prussian blue is such a beautiful color. I use it every chance I get, especially for water. The way you used it at the horizon... inspired! That is one fine painting.

This was perfect as I struggle with painting water period and the fact that it was filmed in real-time and that you are left. Handed is a blessing to me. Also a lefty period and fine things. Well I gave it a shot! Followed along with RU-vid, stopping it at each little step and enjoyed it very much,after I have painted something I feel so relaxed and easy. I managed to make the sea look fairly similar to yours and quite liked it. The sky did not turn out so well, kind of muddy so I tried just the sky again. This mixing that you do so effortlessly is going to need a lot more practice. I very much like the way you teach and stop to show things exactly. I plan to buy your book down the road a bit. Hi Alek, thank you so much for your tutorials. As a beginner, I find them very, very helpful. I especially like your suggestion to use a turquoise wash over the gray water. It creates a beautiful and very realistic color.
