after the initial 5 minute flush (there's a countdown on the faucet), you will need to do another flush. the 2nd flush is much longer. both flushes should flush out all 3 filters including the RO.
good question let me ask water drop. i'll get back with you on that. my guess is that it detects the amount of water that goes through the filter because the specifications on the RO filter says "Provides up to 24 months or 2,200 gallons of clean water." waterdrop says: "Its life span detects the amount of water that goes through the filter and the types of water. If it is municipal water, the filter lifespan will be longer. If rainwater or well water, without pre-processing, the filter lifespan will be shortened. Hope can help."
