I am going to try and blend today. I do small boards you put on your porch. You know that say welcome or home. I couldn't do furniture. But the process is the same just on a smaller scale. Physically I can't do furniture. But I am able to do something that makes me feel good.

I have a secretary newlywed piece from the UK that's gorgeous. I was so surprised that it was plywood. It was made during WW2 when raw materials were in short supply. It was also a perfect candidate for paint. This dresser turned out so pretty! And I love the scented wax tip!

Thank you for clearing up this. I thought the waterfall is pretty and valuable. Makes sense that is has more sentimental value that actual value. I also shellac furniture I think might be valuable so if someone wants to "take it back" it will be easier.

Liked the History-Lesson! The reason why I love this kind of furniture ( or pretty much such with curves or any kind of roundness) so much is - exactly how you described it - cause my grandparents had them. Here in Germany you`ll find a lot of those pieces, but nobody seems to want them.Good for me ;)) Those furnitures accompanied me since my early teenager-years...and since then they were painted. At first a high-gloss black (yeah - the 80s), but they`re getting more and more colorful. Thanks to you (and of course some other "multicoloured suspects") for all the inspiration and many great tutorials.

The waterfall sells very inexpensive here. Mo. But there are sets that are so perfectly keep intact & really quite beautiful. I love the design of waterfall, but it's not really popular here. I love the way furniture artists are transforming it into the boho style. Especially when it's a piece that has lost all of its charm by showing its age in chipped & broken veneer. It gives it a whole new life & the boho style just seems perfect for the design of waterfall to me. Great look for this piece for sure.

most antiques are damaged, used, scratched, warped, peeled what have you ~ still not going to be racking huge $$$. If repainting it, making it current and interesting will entice people to purchase one from you and NOT end up in a landfill is what it is all about. Fix it and give it a new life for a new generation. XoXo

Beautiful and stunning! I'm really into blending and it's taken a few mistakes but personally I am now turning out some pretty furniture and sometimes I will accent a "butter yellow" farmhouse chair with a bow made out of some scrap material or a colorful piece of clothing I don't want anymore, or some of those Dollar Tree ribbons with "jewels" in them, keeping it tasteful but delicious. I curb shop for freebies and last week I found a treasure. Now, I love the unusual, and this is a table that stands about 2 feet high, which is NOT very high -- not made for a chair to use with it -- impractical, really -- and it's crescent-shaped -- very unique -- and it is old. There's a small drawer that has a little plaque inside that says 100% Mahogany. I've never seen anything like it. I'm not going to paint this one. Is there a place online where I can download a picture of it and get feedback on what exactly it is, and if it has value, and possibly it's age and type? That doesn't cost? I just want to get some idea of what this piece is, maybe someone knows.
@BellaRenovare

of course!!! you can send me an email at crysdawna@gmail.com I think blending paint really is so rewarding when you just practice and get past the fear you know??

So are you saying if I send you a pix of this piece of furniture you can tell me a little about it? Because I will try to send it this morning. That would be great! By the way I liked the info on the color wheel too.

This is what I can tell you about the "great" waterfall pieces that I inherited - they fall apart if used everyday. Not good. Thankyou for explaining about their history. You did a great job as usual

This is really cool. I love the cloudy-ness and the way you did the stencil looks amazing.

I love your videos! You not only teach how but also the why. I also love that your pieces are bright and bold and so very colorful! I have a question about primer - when do you use water based primer and when do you use shellac or oil based primer? I have been painting my own things so far. I have a piece I want to flip and I want to make sure I use the correct products.

Even as a kid I never liked the style of the waterfall furniture. Anything you do to it will be an improvement!

I painted a dressing table from the Art Deco period and people I know were horrified but the veneer was so damaged, looking at it now you would not know
