Welcome to Mr. Whittington's Hidden Drams Neighbor! Imagine if that level of detail was the norm in the whiskey industry. Well done, Waterford!

I think the way Waterford operates is something to which the rest of the industry should aspire.

Hi, thanks for this review. I'll be in Ireland next week and i had made a reservation for a tour of the Waterford distillery even before i saw this. I'm a longtime peated Scotch whisky lover and when my wife said there are peat bogs in Ireland but no peated whiskies, i had to challenge her. I found 3 - Cannemara, FitzWilliam and Waterford - only Cannemara available in the US. . And since we were going to be visiting IN Waterford on our trip, i immediately jumped at the opportunity to get a tour and buy some IRISH peated whisky home to NY for me and my friends to enjoy. (And hopefully i'll be able to try the FitzWilliam in a pub while i'm there). Slainte!

Love the idea and process behind Waterford a lot more than I've enjoyed their whisky... so far. Agree with a comment below they need more time. I've had one of the peated releases and it honestly bad. Tried to give it its due, and it did improve with water, but it was not for me. I will keep revisiting them in the coming years, because I'm rooting for them 🤘 Sláinte.

I need to try it, planning a visit to Waterford next month maybe. Speaking of peated Irish, I had the blackpitts cask strength at teeling and fell in love with it, gonna buy a bottle soon

Love the information that is available from this distillery! It would be so great if more distillers did this. It wouldn’t even take much to do this.

Really nice review. You mentioned celebrating barley, well there is a song by Tim Van Eyken (although many have recorded it), Barleycorn that, to me at least, celebrates barley. Nevertheless, a great song. Traffic also recorded it, lit is very good, but I like Tim's better. Cheers!

Oh man now this is the information we need on every bottle. Is it a pain in the butt? absolutely! is it practical in everything, absolutely not. Am I being selfish, probably 😂

I say the title and clicked on as soon as I saw it. Got to try in Dublin two weeks ago and it was so good. I didn’t notice it to be that peaty.

Waterford is one of the more exciting Irish distilleries going. Their whiskeys are very distinctive, very different from what everyone else is doing. That being said, I notice they have distinctively moved away from their original “single farm” origin whiskeys. Which, to be honest, seemed very, very similar to one another. I do get that T’Eire-oir is what they sought to distinguish themselves by. But, as it turns out, the barley from one farm really does produce whiskey pretty dang similar to another farm. However, the “Cuvée” approach is working for them. The advantages of Blends in formulating a quality product from young liquid are very obvious. I haven’t had the opportunity yet to try this specific expression. But I have found that Waterford generally makes Very Good Peated expressions. I’m glad you agree, Daniel! P.S, I found one particular bottle of Waterford to be a very perfect gift for m6 daughter. Waterford’s Heritage Hunter Single Malt. She lives in Waterford, Connecticut. She is part of the Heritage of a long, long Naval tradition, as an officer in the US Navy Submarine Force. And finally, as an officer on an Attack submarine, she is herself a Hunter. Yeah, she thought that was corny, too. But, when she returns from an under way, she and I share a toast via Zoom, with Waterford Heritage Hunter.

I was gifted a bottle of Waterford a little back... gotta say, I'm already looking for another (and this peated one looks very, very interesting). Thank you for the review!!!

I really love Whiskey Vault and listening to Daniel’s educational on whiskey marketing and his detailed thoughts on each bottle! How I wish I can again watch Daniel and Rex on a 1 comeback episode with Brianna. Really missing this group and their craziness. May I know your thoughts Daniel on the new Weller Millenium? I think for a bourbon and an 18 yo, their pumping some 💰

Waterford needs to age another 5 years. Every bottle I've had has been way too young tasting.

Gotta say I've found the Waterford brand to be all style no substance. I live local enough so went to the distillery and got the cuvee, organic and peated versions and all of them fell massively flat. Probably my least favorite Irish to date given it's price to (in my opinion) quality ratio

OOOH! IT'S PROPRIETARY! OOOH! With everyone doing their own thing anyways, what are you trying to hide? The fact that you sourced it from MGP? You bought and dumped barrels from Bardstown?
