I love how pigeons was trying to be smart by predicting when Halloween would be from the date they planned on releasing this episode. But he was off by a week 😂
the cation exchange IS the main reason you water with a lower ph than peat. The coco medium itself is less acidic than peat as well as less ph buffered obviously so you water lower ph to allow the rootzone to function in the proper ph level!
When it comes to Coco coir its my favourite medium to use because its reusable if treated with an enzyme! (to break down dead roots, used whilst and after growth) Canna Pro coco mix is my fave to use with about 10% perlite along with 10% home made compost (which i hope helps out the rhyzophere, adding teas every now and then) Ive heard volcanic rock is a good supplement for perlite, which i might try? but im hoping that these companies making plant specific coco blends, are able to process the same coco, char it, or whatever, too some how make a "perlite" like material from the coconut materials, coconut oil is used to make a waterproofing!
Humans have absolutely destroyed large areas of peat bogs for the carbon rich peat (not gardening, but for fuel.) I believe that’s why it’s seen as less sustainable than coco. I don’t remember ever watching videos about the destruction of palm forests. Palm trees grow back way faster than peat environments can be restored. However, if I lived in a place where I could purchase locally, sustainably harvested peat, I’d do it in a heartbeat.
Canadian Spagnum Peat Moss is substantial the fact is the way it is harvested we remove the top Green layer of live bog material and set it aside then mine the old peat and then put the big top back in place so it continues to Grow the big and it works … when you figure in the transport of coco compared to Peat the environmental impact is about equal but then you need to add in the Water usage Natural Peat requires No water in process Coco requires up to 3 fresh water wash cycles to get the salt level down and then most coco will require you rinse and buffer it at home before use
Canna A & B and Canna bricks 🧱 1 gallon of clean h2o @5.8 ph per brick No need for the cal mag Bloom in flower pk 13/14 day 30 -42 lower ec WINTERFROST day 49-54 water only till day 63 (9 week flower schedule)❤Michigan Matt 💯trying Stash blend next run 🙏
Promix depending on which bag you get is made of coco coir and peat moss mixed with perlite. Coco dries faster so it's more forgiving if you like to over water. Peat moss retains water better so you could go on vacations. Peat moss is a limited resource and coco coir is not. It's more sustainable because we can always grow more coconuts but we can't make more peat as easily. Coco requires more pH/nutrient management than soil. Not sure anyone could answer the shipping cost vs the limited amount of peat. I like blending them together so I get the beneficial micro especially of peat moss and the aeration from the coco.
Front Row AG dry is awesome for coco. Don't need to add calmag because its in there. Its 3 parts, wait 5 mins between mixing parts, PH, drop in autopot res. Works pretty well for me.
I’m with P. The only way it would make sense to use coco when you’re surrounded by peat bogs is to buy whole coconuts then it would be more sustainable than buying ProMix?
Also you can’t let coco dry out too much…it can sequester nutrients then release them when it gets wet, thus shocking your plants or causing lockout. The easiest way I can explain it is coco is like damp hydroponics, in that you have to keep the medium moist or damp but not soaking wet.
