something i think about when a plant doesn't respond completely to the first heavy watering, it's roots have dried out and it has to grow new ones to respond. so i don't waterlog it repeatedly(by mistakenly thinking it needs more water) for fear it may rot. many cactus will grow surface roots to take advantage of sporadic rains, so i give them time to regrow roots before i try watering again.

I just sat mine outside for the rain to water them. They were so shriveled and now looks good.

I was so excited to see this video pop. Its just so fascinating howafter such a long period of no water they just bounce back, plump up and start growing. It’s amazing how they transform after their first watering. Mine look like totally different plants now they’ve all swelled up after having a good drink.

I live in Los Angeles and it rains in the winter months. I leave most of my cactus outside and they get winter rain. The minimum temperature this winter was 40F. The only plants that do not get any winter rain are the Lithops. I will not water the Lithops until last years' leaves are gone. I like the fact that you grow your plants in the greenhouse during the winter and do not water until the spring. I only have two seasons and not four seasons.
