I did mine last year, just like that, it was waterlogged too and tore it out, talk about way overweight with water, found out it was leaking through metal rivets on bottom of boat

Thanks for the video! How do you know if your whaler is waterlogged below the deck?

If it is in the water...just look at the transom and the rear corners. All Whalers from that era should have the waterline meet the notch where the hull falls away towards the keel...about 8 inches behind the whaler logo on the corner. If the boat is out of the water...look for a waterline at the same spot. You can have a boat sit a little lower ( like an inch) if the owner put on a larger engine or put to much weight in the back such as fuel tanks. If you can't see that...try lifting the boat. Two people should be able to lift the transom (assuming no engine installed). The 17s weighed in at about 600 lbs. The boat in the video required a winch to get it off the trailer! If you own the boat...drill small pilot holes (1/4 ") in back 1/2 of the deck and in the transom. Do this if you plan on refurbishing and re painting the boat. If you see black gunk and wet sawdust...you have water infiltration 😞
