The very voice of god ? Maybe, but certainly the voice of an enormous amont of work and talent. Where ever he is Frank must be so proud of his son who has the courage and talent to follow his steps. Frank was a genius like no other, this is doing him justice, how I love his music, nothing comes close, nothing can replace it. I would miss nothing if I only heard his works....Long may he live in his legacy to humanity.
When I was 14 Freak out hed a very special meaning.. 54 years later and I am still lafting to such talent...if there is a civilisation one day on this planet, I am sure they will discover and honor Frank Zappa...
Pierre, absolutely, when you listen to Zappa you know it's music of a higher order and your not perplexed as to why he hasn't graced many more ears, because you know his time will come when our DNA will nicely align to such sounds!.
The finest of all Frank;s compositions in my opinion. I was not sure what listening to someone else play it would be like but I really enjoyed it. Thank you.
A fine effort and what a thrill for the guitar player! This almost never fails to bring tears to my eyes. That said, this piece belongs to Dweezil, who (to my ears) played it even better than Frank himself. I'd love to hear this arranged for a small jazz combo with a primo sax player in the lead.
This is the ideal piece to play to people who say they don't like FZ's music. "Watermelon.." has a simple melody, and a guitarist can be very creative when soloing over it.
