In this video I go over step by step how to waterproof a custom foam shower pan and tie the waterproofing into the walls using a water proof sheet membrane that is installed with thinset. For this particular video we are using a newer method of waterproofing over a foam shower pan and a bonding flange drain. This is called a water in/water out system as opposed to the traditional three piece clamping ring with a vinyl liner. This way of waterproofing your shower pan can save you time and has fewer steps which eliminates the possibility of installation error. Does it matter what wall board is used? I've already purchased Hardie backer and a foam pan. Thin set will still bond right?

Why didn’t you just overlap up the wall on all sides as you did on the sides??? (Oh, I guess because the membrane isn’t wide enough?)

You may have miss spoke? A water in/water out system is the old preslope to weep holes, pvc liner and top pack. The new systems are called a Bonding system.

I have a custom builtwithfoam pan, neo angle, I’m about to install and the smallest width of my shower is 44”, most membranes seem to come in 39” width. How would you recommend waterproofing it? Thanks for all you do in your videos.

Seam 1/3 of the way through the pan. Offset the seam from the drain go at least 3-4” up wall, install your inside and outside corners and you’re good to go.

Question, when tiling or in general, if one lives in a multifamily/condo type home= how do you dispose of the thinset/mortar, water bucket? I hear do not put anything in the drain at all. what to do with it? thanks😊🪣

I would dispose of it in the dumpster provided at the housing unit. If you are not provided one, I would dispose of the water in the grass outside somewhere and any left over thin set and materials I would bag up and bring to the local dump.
