Looks to be the most correct assembly I've seen so far. The rear (larger) crimp is meant to grip the insulation to help prevent pulling out and copper fractures caused by movement where the copper exits the the insulation. But then looking at the silicone bung, it looks deliberately made to take that rear end crimp, perhaps to ensure a seal at that point. Trouble with being a Gemini, I end up arguing with myself 🤣

The yellow silicone bungs should be held in by the back crimp, the stripped wire by the front 👍🏻
@50plusdad-uk
@50plusdad-uk 7 месяцев назад
Absolutely, The reason I don't probably stems from the mid 90's Grand Cherokee, I was involved in upgrading the security for the uk market, one of the biggest problems we had was pins pushing out on the alarm door wiring due to the grommet being crimped too far down and stopping the terminal clicking home, admittedly not the hand made pre production wiring looms more the later factory made stuff, we used to pull them back up the cable and refit but this way solves that and the grommets don't fall out.

I found crimping the seal tended to end up with one of the lugs breaking off - so also don’t crimp the bung onto the terminal

@50plusdad-uk hi, another question, someone has said that the yellow waterproof bung should be crimped on the wire. Is this right, or the way you've done it. I'm just asking. Thanks.
@50plusdad-uk
@50plusdad-uk 2 месяца назад
You can do both ways, I don't grimp the bung so I get a better crimp and it clicks in the connector easier. Sometimes when you crimp the bung it can move so you still have to poke it down. The bung won't fall out if not crimped, have a try both ways and see which works best for you 👍

Can I use a standard wire crimp tool, or do I need the terminal crimp one?
@50plusdad-uk
@50plusdad-uk 4 месяца назад
I would use a terminal crimp if you can as the lugs need to be folded back over themselves each side forming an "n" to crimp into the copper, standard crimps will just flatten the lugs and not grip properly as they are designed to crush rather than form as specific shape.

Hi i bought the crimper from your description its the HS-03BC but it says on the crimper body For insulated terminals can you explain whats going on please
@50plusdad-uk
@50plusdad-uk 4 месяца назад
Hi on the handle it says for plug spring terminal (non insulated) there are different dies (jaws) as long as the die is correct as in the picture these will fold and form the terminal, insulated terminal dies are flatter and just compress or crimp the terminal.

I use this solar air heater ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CxS6ewRNMMg.html to keep the workshop dry, I think what you can hear is the solar powered fan trying to start in the background when there is not enough power to move the blades (i have a switch on it now to turn if off when recording). I edited this using speakers and didn't hear it but listening on headphones it's really loud and annoying worse thing is I cant go back and edit it without deleting, so I'm stuck with it. Lesson learnt.

You are supposed to crimp the seals you slide onto the wire onto the insulation right before the striped wire. You did this demo completely wrong.

This way it's easier to take them apart without damaging the seals. They won't fall out if you push them home the ribs hold them in place. 👍

Ima he honest these connectors are terribly hard to get working I’ve spent like 5 hours on them and they don’t work. I’m just gonna solder directly I guess.
@50plusdad-uk
@50plusdad-uk 4 месяца назад
Once you get the hang of crimping the terminals they should be easy to assemble, things like the terminal being squashed or too much copper sticking out the front, both can stop the terminal clicking home. Make sure the terminal is the right way round and clicks home without forcing it.

@50plusdad-uk

I've never used singles but looking at the online they look very similar in construction, if you having trouble removing the red female try pushing a removal pin in from the back, wire side and see if you can push it out enough to then get the pin in and lift the lock tabs. 👍

I bought a packet of these from Amazon about 3 years ago. Finally a reason to use them the other day. Got the packet out and thought what the FXXXXK do I do with these? I ended up soldering and heat shrinking the cable onto my brand new bike's wiring, which I really didn't want to do. Sitting here a week later I thought, wonder if there's a post on RU-vid? Of course there is! Thank you 1000% so easy to follow and concise. I'm off to pull all the panels off my Can-Am Spyder RTL & do the job I wanted to do in the first place. Bought the tools from you & sent a couple of coffers over to you too - Cheers matey!
