Thanks for the video. I do the other way round. Fill the cracks and line with waterproof sealer and let it sip in and let dry for 24-48hrs.Then fill the white cement. If you want to be safer can apply another layer of sealer after the white cement. It's already 4 years doing fine. Hope it helps.
sir, after u use waterproof sealer as first layer, and when applying white cement to the tiles joint , are they attached easily? can the cement stay attach because the hydrophobic properties of the first layer sealent?
Hi Sattar, i believed you should put the white cement 1st, after it dried, then only apply sealer.. Otherwise sealer will go into any crack or hole. The sealer is not silicon ya, is jus a thin layer of water.. Similar to thinner water..
First of all, thank you for making and sharing this video. I think you are right. We must patch up all the holes with white cement first before putting the sealer. The purpose of the waterproof sealer is to repel water; so it must be the component in contact with the bathroom water.
Hi Dr. Cheong, I did some Googling and found that this No Leak sealer is a solvent-based waterproof sealer. It can be washed off the tiles even after it has been applied, but it remains permanent on grout. However, from the video, it looks like you can use it on all tile surfaces. I would appreciate it if you could enlighten me. Thanks.
U r actually right, it should be applied on grout but I applied it into entire surface of the tiles hoping it will sip into any tiny cracks or holes. But yes, u can jus applied on the grout itself..
I have the same worried and fortunately it will not make the floor slippery.. At least for my flooring. You can try applying it in 1 or 2 tiles and test it out.
Hello Dr Cheong, thank you for the instructional video, useful grouting tips for a beginner like myself! I saw the same ufixx grout and tiles sealer in a shop and was hesitant to buy and use it, as I'm new to regrouting bathroom. So I have a few questions about the ufixx grout and tiles sealer that I hope you can answer: 1. Does the ufixx sealer seep into the tiles and grout and becomes unnoticeable? Or does it form a layer of protective film externally, like silicone does? Can it be felt by hand if you step or touch it? 2. Did your layer of seal or grout turn yellow over time? (I believe you regrouted 9 months ago) I searched online and some websites say that oil/solvent based sealers turn to a yellowish or amber colour over time. I'm afraid that my tiles (my tile is white colour), if applied with ufixx sealer would turn yellowish overtime due to the sealer. (I'm okay with slight yellowing of my tiles, but not dirty yellowish) 3. Is the sealer totally unnoticeable after it dries? Or does it form a layer of relective glossy texture after drying? 4. Does the sealer make it harder to clean toilet? (Like film of sealer gets scraped off) Or is cleaning still the same? 5. Is your sealer applied 9 months ago still waterproofing well today? When would you reapply sealer again? 6. Lastly, would you recommend if I use the sealer on grout of kitchen sink? I'm afraid that it might be toxic for health as kitchen sink water is used for cooking every day. And the kitchen sink grout is exposed to water daily. So, I'm afraid that the sealer (after drying) might get washed into food or stain the sink. Would be great if you can reply to my queries! Thank you and have a nice day 😁
Hi Brendon, thanks alot for your comments. I have the same questions as yours as well before i tried it myself. Below is the summary of my answer based on your questions. Hope i didnt missed out anything. 1. The sealer is totally unnoticeable, didn't turn yellow and cannot be felt by hand. If you asked me, is like thinner for paint. Strong smell but u will not notice it. I applied on the floor tile n grout, is not slippery after dried. But it do form a thin layer of so call reflective look/layer when we spray water it will see small dropped of water skiing thru.. But dnt worry, is not slippery, no changes of colour and is just like thinner, applied n disappeared. 2. Is not the type like silicon based, so u wont see a white colour things or hot glue. Therefore, you need to fill up all the crack or hole or gap with white or black cement before applying the sealer, otherwise it will fall btwn crack. This sealer is more like closing the pores, not for filling up gap. 3. Whether safe for kitchen top, im not sure about this. I think is not safe if our food expose to it. Hope i didn't missed anything. By the way, i think i should redo 1 more time, coz might have new crack appeared..
All the best to you. Dnt rush it. Let it proper dry up b4 applying the cement. Let it dry then only apply sealer. After sealer, need to wait it to dry.. Then only use the toilet. Be prepared ya, very smelly ya the sealer..
Hi Dr Cheong, Good sharing. Is this the only sealer out there that seal the grout or there are other options? if there are other options, what is reason you chosen this sealer and brand? Thanks!
Hi Su, it pretty depend on ur local hardware shop coz they know which brand is higher demand. I will usually asked them to recommend 2 brand n ask what is the difference btwn them. So far my local hardware shop recommended this brand.. Hav not try other brand, hence unable to advise further.. Do share with me if u hav tried other brand.. Tqvm
Ya, sealer not able to block leaking if crack or gap or hole is too big.. Better use cement to seal up any hole 1st before apply the sealer. But if still happen, then might be the piping leaking.. Tat one need expert to check..
@@drcheongtv floor grouting compound dries faster and when dried, it is much harder like those epoxy compound. I used cement before and result not as good as floor grouting compound.
Wow, i learned something new today. Thanks alot. I was not aware of this floor grounting compound. Tqvm, will definitely check with the local hardware shop
Hi both of you I had a problem in my shower room. The problem maybe coming from the pipe under the tiles on the floor. I dont want to wreck the tiles anymore. Does it will solve if I use the floor grounting compound?
@@jaimejrestanislao floor grouting may help If leakage is due to water from surface seeping down. If after apply grouting compound, there is still leakage, then may be other causes
Ya, take ur time to fill up the small hole n crack especially on the floor and near to the drain hole area.. Aftrr i washed the floor, i can see clearly all the tiny hole.. Filled it up with the white cement n let it dry properly. Then apply the sealer.. Hope u can resolve ur leaking issue. If still leaking after the fix, then might be the piping issue. In this case, u might need to contact the professional.. All the best
