Hume should be captain.hopefully this is just a blip for Neil ,but he's no where near his usual self.cant wait to see more from Isidor.

When Browne and Samed are fit I hope Neil doesn't get a start again this season. Bang average player, offers very little and is overrated cos he's a local lad. Was one of the worst choices for a captain, isn't a natural leader and has no composure on the pitch.

Neil has been poor for several weeks now. He needs a break and I believe the captaincy should be given to a more suitable player. Hopefully Browne will return and IMO would be a very good captain. Mundle was once again threatening and my MOM (AGAIN!) Rigg and Jobe were quiet today especially first half. RLB faces his first serious challenge in having to sort out the Dan Neil situation.

Totally agree John, let’s hope he doesn’t go along with the other previous managers and just keep playing players not in form. 2 poor away performances now and we have to beat Derby with Leeds on the horizon on Friday.

Too many forgot to show up for the first half Wayne but improved after the break with Isidor showing what he can do given the service he requires but oh dear, Dan Neil showing once again the traits which led me to criticise his form a few weeks ago, he isn't a holding or defensive midfielder and really shouldn't be anywhere near the captaincy. I hope RLB takes him out of the firing line and replaces him with Browne wearing the armband. I also said that Neil should be dropped until he signs the new contract and left out of the squad altogether because as things stand I get the impression that he thinks he's fireproof because he's captain, no one is bigger than club or team and the sooner he's brought back down to earth the better, my last observation is that he couldn't tackle a good fish and chips supper never mind an opponent. Rant over !!!

If Neil tackled with his left foot, it wouldn’t have been late. Needs to work on it because teams will notice and exploit that weakness

Neil has been poor all season I'd drop him him until he gets better Put him back in the under 21 until he gets his form back Or sell him in January

Agreed. Hope he doesn't see another start this season when Browne and Samed are fit. So overrated, offers very little and awful choice for a captain.

Not sure if the wide players are helping the full backs enough at the moment. I’d say Mundle in particular. The opening goal he is caught on his heels whilst Cirkin isn’t marking the scorer but occupying a dangerous area. The work rate in general was down in the first half. It’s a basic requisite

Exactly Stu, we did not deal with their formation at all. Far too easy to play through our midfield and the work rate was non existent until the second half. Second half we improved but the penalty was a joke from Dan Neil.

@@onlyfoolsandsafc Despite win v Boro , even in the first half they must have got in behind Cirkin 3 or 4 times . Not saying it’s him, but if you double up on wide players you can force them back or inside . We don’t seem to be pressing as high from the kick off as a few games ago . A tactic that put us on the front foot and got the crowd up

Yes poor from Dan Neil yesterday but hopefully he will learn from it.Captaincy is looking like a burden on him.I think if Alan Browne gets over his injury I think he could be the ideal candidate with being more experienced at this level. Performance wise,we did look poor in the first halfand Watford punished us for being lacklustre but came out alot better second half.I like the look of Isidor,there is a sharpness in front of goal and if Roberts and others keep providing the service or assists I think he could score more than a few goals!? On the negative side so disappointed not to get everything out of this game especially when West Brom lost to Plymouth.

For me Dan needs to be dropped overall this year he’s been our worst player by a long shot. Don’t know if it’s helps contract issue, captaincy but he’s not on it !

Spot on, a dreadful first half. Great start to the second half, Isidor took his goal well, then the substitions really sapped our attacking momentum and Dan Neil's tackle was just ridiculous. He's been off it all season. Like you, I don't think this deep lying role suits him and he's clealry not at his best this season. I'd drop him for a couple of games if Browne can come back in and is fit, or give Samed a run out if he's fit. The thing is, Neil's not an inexpereinced young kid any more, yes he's young, but in terms of games played he's one of the senior player now. Not sure what the issue is with him, but we need to solve it and fast.

Agreed Ian, RLB has an important decision to make. He has made him captain and changed his position which hasn’t worked at all. Is he strong enough to make it, we will find out on Tuesday. I hope Browne or Samed are fit soon. 🤞🏻

I said before game it would be hard game always is at Watford think I said 2 2 got that wrong but to come away with nothing is bad ,two defeats out of last three games no longer leaders and pack closing it's a great leveler this div and if your not on it all the time you can be out of top six in a crack ,I still believe that Sunderland will be in top two but have to keep there consentration for 90 mins you cant afford to switch off,anyway onwards to next game a must win for me

I think if we don’t win on Tuesday we will drop like a stone, with games against Leeds and a Hull side starting to hit form we could find ourselves down in 7th or 8th very quickly. We should have had draws from both Plymouth and Watford and got nothing. RLB has got import decisions to make on the team for Tuesday.

Neil has these moments... Penalty today, sending off... They are costly and certainly cost us today. Substitutions weren't good IMO. Taking off Isidor and both wingers,, not a good decision. We were on the front foot before but weren't going to score after that...

Totally agree with you, the substitutions killed our momentum as Rusyn and Poveda offered very little.

Typical Sunderland again, West Brom lose and we have an opportunity to go top with a victory, Christ even a point would've been good enough today but again similar to Plymouth individual errors cost us at least point, I'm starting to worry now that we're starting to become that inconsistent side, we'll win then lose then win then lose, I hope that's not the case and it's again just down to an error but it just really pisses me off when we have an opportunity to capitalise and like always we never do, going forward when Browne is fully fit and Samed, Neil needs dropping, it's not just down to today it's been a problem all season, everytime Neil has played he's been the biggest weak link in that midfield, the Captain's armband is clearly to much for him and he certainly doesn't suit that defensive midfield role, I've said this in the past that Neil only thrives and looks really good when he's got experience alongside him, the fact that Jobe and Rigg are outperforming him week in and week out is very concerning and finally Tuesday is an absolute must win, I know it's still early but if we can't beat Derby then forget about top 2 and just try and finish in the top 6 if we can

Brilliant comments mate, RLB has a massive decision to make now. He’s made him captain and it hasn’t worked, nor has playing him there, like you say he’s been poor all season for me and needs taking out. Really hope Samed is fit or even gives Akecsic a go. Brought these players to the club and doesn’t play them. Been on the bench 3 times now and not seen anything of him.

Why do people rate Dan Neill so much? I've seen him play many a time and he's bang average! And so far this season he's been way below average! He's a liability! Browne is way better

I thought Watson looked good for his few minutes but not impressed with Poveda,looks too small,reminds me of Groucho Marks. Neill was atrocious,he’s Captain Catastrophe at the moment.Rusyn ineffective. It may take some time for our best combinations to show through but still in second and with options aplenty,so here’s hoping for a good win v Derby. Ithink the longer we go the better we will get.

Thanks mate, I think Watson will be a very good player for us but agree with Poveda he showed nothing to me so far, not created any chances and gave the ball away too much. Rusyn I’ve decided will not make it here. He’s not good enough. I was impress with Wilson.

Frustrating. Feels somewhat self inflicted again with the unnecessary penalty. Draw probably would have been a fair result. Watford better in the first half Sunderland better in the second. Back at it on Tuesday I guess.

I agree mate, a draw would have been a fair result. Game of two halfs for sure. Very poor on Dan Neil’s part again. He was terrible again today and needs dropping. We were great when he was suspended.

Well another again game we should atleast drew and neil should have been subbed b4 he fcukin stupidly chopped there player down in the box he had time to bring him down easily to pick a card and gain us a point Robert's and 👀Z A🚪 didn't need to be subbed they linking up really and problems for Watford... 🤞 we'll get 3pts Tuesday because leeds ain't gonna be easy at ALL...wayne 👍

Agree Charlie, he was terrible again today and that role isn’t for him: he’s not good enough on the ball to play that there. Gets caught out too many times. With you in the fact we have to beat Derby too.

@@onlyfoolsandsafc yip definitely Browne should play Tuesday instead of him TBH his a far better player also hume captain's his international team so ither him or ballard should be captain his not good enough he fcuked up against Boro last season and cost us potential 3pts then yesterday when he had plenty of time to bring him down before getting near the box 😐😐
